Re: [Soccer] Gold Cup Roster Is Out

Agreed. The tournament should really move from every two years to every four years, either opposite the Confed Cup so as not to interfere with WC qualifying or opposite the WC (i.e. at the same time as Euro 20xx).

Let's say Canada won, they'd be in the same position as the USA because they'd be attending the Confed Cup + the Gold Cup. Any CONCAF team would be really hindered in the tournament they don't choose to take their A team.

Having two tournaments at the same time would only work if they were say Euro and African Nations. There's no conflict between the two.

Really screws over CONCAF participants.
Explain... CONCACAF participants in what?

The Gold Cup is a CONCACAF tournament (Analogous to the African Nations Cup or Euro 20xx or Copa America). The Confed Cup is comprised of the winners of each of the 6 Confederations' Cups plus the World Cup champ (Italy) and the host nation (RSA). The only team that is playing in both is the USA.

You know there's a big problem with your team list when it doesn't include Howard.
The entire list is B teamers who get little to no playing time...

That's kind of dumb. Having the Gold Cup so close to the Confed Cup. Really screws over CONCAF participants. It seems CONCAF will never be in line with the rest of the world when it comes to soccer. I mean just look at the MLS. Playing their soccer season now really hurts both the club level and international level teams. Stadiums being used for other sports is just and excuse. Put some money into the sport and get your own stadium.

You know there's a big problem with your team list when it doesn't include Howard.

Defenders: Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City), Clarence Goodson (Start, Norway), Jay Heaps (New England), Chad Marshall (Columbus), Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland, Denmark), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock, Germany).
Midfielders: Davy Arnaud (Kansas City), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Colin Clark (Colorado), Sam Cronin (Toronto), Brad Evans (Seattle), Stuart Holden (Houston), Logan Pause (Chicago), Robbie Rogers (Columbus).
Forwards: Freddy Adu (Monaco, France), Brian Ching (Houston), Kenny Cooper (Dallas), Charlie Davies (Hammarby, Sweden), Santino Quaranta (D.C. United).
Not quite the caliber of the team down in South Africa right now but it should still be entertaining.

The USMNT starts the tournament July 4th in Seattle (Honduras V Haiti : Grenada V USA.) I have my tickets and will be there with my camera. I will try to get some good shots from the two matches.
