Re: U-verse Voice available in Raleigh, NC?

CPI first said their system would not work with U-verse VOIP, but later agreed that it may work. A rep. at U-verse assured me it would work. I placed my order and they came yesterday to move my existing phone number to U-verse Voice. When the tech did his thing, the number appearing on VOIP was not my old number. After inquiry, it was found that some preparations of my number in the CO needed to make it available on VOIP had not been done. Only a new order would solve the problem. They are scheduled to return next Wednesday. I will let you know how it goes. The tech said yesterday was the first day of VOIP installations in Raleigh.

Well, Wednesday came, but the AT&T tech did not. I called customer service and was told that someone would be here be 11:59 PM. No one came. Thursday I called customer service again and they had no idea what I was talking about, but agreed to send someone out on the 13th. I told them how ridiculous it was for me to wait another two weeks when all the problems have been on their end and as far as I was concerned they could forget the whole thing. On Saturday someone called to see if my number had been ported to VOIP.
I assured them that it had not. They are sending a tech next Wednesday. I'll Let you know how that turns out.

It is Wednesday again. They did not wait until the appointed time. I lost dial tone Sunday and reported my outage. No one called me back as promised so I reported it again Monday morning. This time they responded quickly and within three hours a repairman was at my house. My number had been ported in the office, so the repairman finished the switch while he was here.
That gave me VOIP two days earlier than scheduled. It works.
The features are great. Except for the hassle of getting it installed, everything is even better than I expected. The CPI alarm system works also. U-verse VOIP is outstanding and I recommend it highly. I just hope you don't have the problems I did getting it.
P.S. Another AT&T installer came today to finish the already completed job.
