said by WhatHappened :I had that issue with a Motorola VOIP modem. When I had them switch me to a RCA VOIP modem everything works great (and all of my answering machines work). The Motorola modem also needed to be hard reset every time the cable connection was disturbed by line maintenance. One of my answering machines also didn't work with the Motorola modem it didn't have enough resistance to break the dial tone (like your issue). I feel for you because even if you pay for voice mail, the caller doesn't get to leave a message in that situation, they just get hung up on. Very interesting indeed. I had a strong feeling the modem was the culprit. Thanks for the post. -- 0111000001100101011000010110001101100101 |

"question. if you DONT answer the phone does this still happen?" - Yes, when this issue exists, I try the *69 feature and still get the busy signal. That was corrected at the head office in the past, although the dropped call issue wasn't able to be resolved at that end.
The phone rings ok, even when I have an expected scheduled call coming in such as my broker call back. I can call out ok as well. About it being jack/wiring related, this is what I was afraid of, although I have a gut feeling it's modem/ switching related.
Thank you for the post. I'm keeping this thread handy for the service tech to view. -- 0111000001100101011000010110001101100101 |
