| [MLB] Geovanny Soto smoked pot, but only once! Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto said he has been informed by the International Baseball Federation that he tested positive for marijuana at the World Baseball Classic.
"While I fully acknowledge my inappropriate behavior, I want to assure my fans and my family that this was an isolated incident," Soto said in a statement released by the Cubs. "I do not say this to minimize or deflect from my conduct and I fully understand the ramifications of my actions. I have and will accept any and all consequences."
And I'm sure the bong he keeps in his house is just a decorative art sculpture. -- You're so vain... I bet you think this post is about you.

Oh wait...
It's only pot, it would probably slow him down. It cracks me up that they even test for it... Why not test for alcohol too? -- GOLF LEAFS GOLF!

| Re: [MLB] Geovanny Soto smoked pot, but only once! The effects of pot are irrelevant. The fact is, it's illegal and against the rules. Also, the ridiculous idea that he's only smoked this once is patently ridiculous, and why he would think people would buy that bullshit is beyond me. -- You're so vain... I bet you think this post is about you. | |

| The "inappropriate behavior" is apologizing and acting like he did something wrong because he took a toke.
Big friggin deal.
One of these days some people are going to come to their senses and realize that smoking a little pot once in a while is hardly different from having the occasional cocktail.
It doesn't alter the body's genetic makeup, it bears no relationship to meth, crack, heroin, or any hard drug.
Tons of people smoke it-- athletes, politicians, law-enforcement officials. People from all walks of life. As long as you're not smoking on the job, it doesn't hinder (or specifically help) any job performance, athletic or otherwise.
One day an athlete or politician (besides the singular Ricky Williams, that is) is going to get caught and simply say, "Yeah, I smoke. So what?"

2 edits | What really pisses me off is what the media likes to do...they were showing highlights of the Cubs game today, and when they got to the final batter of the game (Soto), they said something along the lines of, "and here was Geovany Soto, who tested positive for Marijuana during the World Baseball Classic, trying to make something happen in the 9th."
What is the point of throwing that tiny tidbit about the pot situation into the commentary?
