BEvans2 @rogers.com	No. That is not what IBM is saying. With the new method of encryption data can be processed to produce an encrypted result without ever knowing the actual source data. Encrypted data -> processing -> encrypted result vs the old way Encrypted data -> Decrypt -> process -> encrypt answer

IF somebody would to use "fully homomorphic encryption" THEN and ONLY THEN and ONLY on this encryption would the IBM solution allowed to retrieve the encrypted content without identifiying the origin or destination. This is NOT retroactive. So, sleep tight and do NOT use any encryption algorithm that is "fully homomorphic".

IBM's breakthrough has to do with NEW types of encryption that INCREASE security when encrypted data needs to be processed. It doesn't affect existing encryption, and it never will. In other words, please stop [with your paranoia] while you're ahead.
