Managing a web site

A person I know owns his own business that has a web site. He would like to pay me an hourly rate to take care of, update and add pictures to it, since he would rather not do it himself (not his kettle of fish). He would like to know what I would charge to do this. Having not done web site management like this before, I have no idea what the going rates are. Can some of you give me an idea as to what would be a proper rate?

I have done a little web site development for myself, so HTML is not completely foreign to me. I also have MS Frontpage and similar tools at my disposal.

I do PC repair as a sideline, and that is how I met him in the first place.

$50 with a one hour min.

$30-$50 an hour just to post pics and minor stuff seems way too much. Tell your friend to hire somebody for $10/hour for the minor stuff.

Really? If someone offered me $10 bucks an hour for that type of work, I'd tell them to pound sand. And mean it.

Depending on the scope of the website, $30-50 is pretty reasonable if you will be spending a decent amount of time on it. If it's something that you'll do for a couple hours once or twice a month, maybe ask for more to compensate.

$50.00 per/hour if maintained with a text editor and an SCP (secure copy)

$20.00 per/hour if you are using Dreamweaver

$2.00 per/hour if you use Frontpage

Re: Managing a web site

Uh, no. Whether you hand code or use wysiwyg like Dreamweaver makes no difference.

But, I would agree with the $2 an hour for Frontpage. It'll cost you $$ to clean the code after that!

How does that go? I think I've seen it in someones signature aroud here somewhere....

$40 an hour to do it myself.
$60 an hour if you want to watch
$80 an hour if you want to help
$120 an hour if you tried to fix it yourself and failed.

something like that
