Re: Acronis TI Build 9796 Released 6-24

Well, looks ok. Do I go so far as to make my boot disk of this version?

I tried to install, but I get a Windows crash dialog on XP just after double-clicking the install file I downloaded (I redownloaded-- same result). I'll revert to TI version 10 for now...This is not what I expected for my $25 upgrade...
Did you check the hash(es) of the setup file you downloaded? If it matches what I posted above, you should be fine, as the updated installer should not crash.

I'll re-post them:

CRC32: 5D63AA6D
MD5: 0F7B0C028FCC684E836094D743FCF6EB
SHA-1: 1E1736465740E696C78AAED98B9301C63A3063A5

For myself, #9796 installed correctly without any install issues under XP64.

Looks like they finally got it fixed. (third time around)
May give it a shot... though I'm hesitant.

In case anyone's interested, here is the hash info for the "fixed" build 9796 install file:

The last time I tried to update TI 2009 it told me my SN was invalid and gave me a URL to check it and if necessary get a replacement. The check program indicated I had a valid SN (which I paid for and is registered with them) and asked me to email the Acronis registry entries and msinfo which I did. I also restored the PC from a backup using TI2009 under Bartpe and reinstalled the prior version that accepted my paid for SN. After two days without a reply to my email I checked the Acronis site and they had removed the update and replaced it with the older version that still works for me.

My educated guess is that they added a check for some pirated SNs and the check isn’t very accurate.

I am going to wait awhile for the dust to settle before I try this upgrade and I will have a current backup before I try it.

Yeah, SP is a great imaging program. I'm using both SP 3.3 and TI 2009. One can never have too many backups!
You've got that right!!! I've got 9791 and 9796 downloaded. I'll probably hold off another week and continue watching the forum at Wilders before installing.

I have jumped the fence and gone with ShadowProtect.

Seems that I couldn't mount any of my backups with TI version 11. Even going back to version 9 b2337. Contacted support. They tried but after it was escalated to Tier 2, I haven't heard from them. (Perhaps that should have been Tear 2. lol)

They got it right now.... or have they?

[EDIT] FWIW, I just did a full backup and restore (using the new 9796 boot media). No issues to report.

It's almost impossible to trust this company these days - I'm sticking with my current TI 2009 build, it works on my machines.

Fills you with ZERO confidence that in the past few weeks all I've seen is different build numbers appear/disappear and then mismatches of versions etc.....
Im a fan of True Image but I have to agree.

What the heck is Acronis programmers upto?

I'm not going to install this botched up build.. even if they do re-release it later. Think I'll stick with the previous build for a while.

9796 is up but it fails (crashes) as soon as you run setup... I see it's a known issue... I hope they fix it ASAP.

So is 9796 a NEW build?
Or is 9791 the new build?
I'm just wondering if they have failed to update the links to 9796 as it's misslabeled. I have been live chatting with a REP at ATI and he needs more info on my end as he tried sending me 9796 but it was 9791 again.
EDIT: Found out it's a GUI issue. It's build #9791. It is either a GUI mistake or a mislabeled version number. Either way there is NO build #9796.

Yeah it says it's version #9796, but when you download the file and hover over file, it says #9791. Are you sure you guys got version #9796?
