Not as bad over here right now, atleast since Friday July 10th the 10 ms ping I always had to the Clifton server is gone. Sometimes it goes down to 6-7 Mb/s down but usually not lower during 6-8 PM.

Here in Holbrook, Boost surely is effected. In fact, I get a slower rate now, than I had before Boost. I'm bummed I had to leave Fios when I moved, and with this fluctuation added to the mix, now I'm getting really pissed.

It's so much that I was just pricing the Optimum Boost speeds but it looks like that's affected too so forget that.

They need to upgrade the equipment in our area, it's really bad. I tried disconnecting the modem and that worked for one day but it was slow again the next day.

It used to be -15/+15 but with the change in modulation (64QAM to 256QAM) on the downstream it became -10/10. The upstream modulation also changed and likely needs to be better than -52 instead of -56 but I am not positive what the exact upstream spec is now.

well it's as i thought. the signal levels are fine he says but he decided to change the splitters and connectors. I hope that was all that was needed. also, he noted that the acceptable signal level is between -10 and +10 not 15 like everyone else says. This is Cablevision's standard while 15 is everyone else he says.

nice guy and he did the work at no cost to me!

edit: i also forgot to mention that the connectors he used have rubber isolation in them to prevent water leaking in. It kinda loooks like this:

and he removed the wall mounted ground in favor of using the splitter itself as the ground. the splitter is screwed to the wall so it's all good.

I've noticed that sometimes after a random reboot Line1 light doesn't go solid. it blinks and turns off. after a manual reset it goes solid. I've already changed the modem from a SA to a Motorola and I REALLY doesn't want to change it again since the automated modem swap website NEVER works for me. tech is coming tomorrow so we'll see what he says. I already have an idea, "well the signal looks good now so there's nothing wrong! have a nice day!" *10 minutes after he leaves modem disconnects* >:/

Haha so it was 07425. Anyways I'm having a tech come over monday. Daily disconnects are BS. It's only happening because I cancled boost >:/
It wouldn't happen because of the change, though it may have started since that time.

Do you have Optimum Voice phones? If so, do they connect too? Have you noticed if the modem lights change when the service drops? If not, do you have multiple PCs? Do they all disconnect at the same time?

Disconnects are not normal, and shouldn't happen. If the modem is going offline with good signals, you could always try to replace it with a new one.

I don't think they're normal (nor should they be), but I have the occasional disconnect as well (today for a few minutes), even with acceptable signal levels.
As for the name change, they can call it whatever they want. I still use West Paterson and it's the zip code that counts anyway (even though we share it with LF). At one time we had 07425... Why they stopped using it is beyond me.

Not too bad in Wayne, not far from you, Howie. I took it around 8:15, when more people are online.

Having problems out here in Parlin, NJ as well. My signal levels are also fine, but I've seen it get as bad as 2 Mbps down (regular 15/2).

I have a technician coming out this week; we'll see if it helps.

Here is one I took a few days back. This was with my computer directly connected to the modem.

That's about 2/3 of what you shouild be seeing?

Here are my mid-day speeds (Clifton, Secaucus, NYC) but I bet they drop well below 10mbps this evening.

I was just curious if anyone else in this area (Oakland System) is seeing wacky download speeds lately. My signals are well within range and at any given time I see from 3000 down to 14000 and above at other times. My uploads are a constant 2 mbps or better, always. Could it be some idiot sucking up bandwidth on my node?
Boost on Oakland system not winning any prizes either

Here is the Speakeasy test (NYC) and it's a bit better. I guess there isn't much I can do in any event. Thanks for your reply!

Fine over here in the Morris System. ThurmanM is correct. Sometimes I've had it drop that low but not for too long. Guess I don't have lot of kiddies downloading stuff on my node. The ping time coincides with congestion on your node as well..but it's never gone that high for me. Ahh. didn't realize you were using the Clifton server, That's the only local server I get a ping time on out of the 3 local speed test servers on there with 10 ms. I always end up using New York or Secaucus.
