<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1020459"><b>serge666</b></A> : well it's as i thought.  the signal levels are fine he says but he decided to change the splitters and connectors.  I hope that was all that was needed.  also, he noted that the acceptable  signal level is between -10 and +10 not 15 like everyone else says.  This is Cablevision's standard while 15 is everyone else he says.<br><br>nice guy and he did the work at no cost to me! :)<br><br>edit:  i also forgot to mention that the connectors he used have rubber isolation in them to prevent water leaking in. I've already changed the modem from a SA to a Motorola and I REALLY doesn't want to change it again since the automated modem swap website NEVER works for me.  tech is coming tomorrow so we'll see what he says.  I already have an idea, "well the signal looks good now so there's nothing wrong! have a nice day!" *10 minutes after he leaves modem disconnects* >:/]]></description>

If so, do they connect too?  Have you noticed if the modem lights change when the service drops?  If not, do you have multiple PCs?  Do they all disconnect at the same time?<br><br>Disconnects are not normal, and shouldn't happen.  If the modem is going offline with good signals, you could always try to replace it with a new one.]]></description>

I still use West Paterson and it's the zip code that counts anyway (even though we share it with LF). At one time we had 07425... Why they stopped using it is beyond me.]]></description>

ThurmanM is correct. Sometimes I've had it drop that low but not for too long.  Guess I don't have lot of kiddies downloading stuff on my node.  The ping time coincides with congestion on your node as well..but it's never gone that high for me.  Ahh. didn't realize you were using the Clifton server, That's the only local server I get a ping time on out of the 3 local speed test servers on there with 10 ms.  I always end up using New York or Secaucus.]]></description>
