| westell 6100 stopped connecting to internet I have a Westell 6100 series dsl router which has worked well for the past three years. I have infrequently had to reset it (once a year) after it would not connect to the internet. The router is coupled to a D-Link 802.11g Router for wireless laptop connectivity around the house. There is a tower computer hard-wired to this D-Link. Today the tower would no longer connect to the internet. I have a signal coming into the Westell, the connection speed shows 100 Mbps. I have three green lights showing on the Westell, Power, Ethernet & DSL. When I attempt to open my browser I get the "Can't Connect" page. I have also attempted to refresh the Westell driver and even re-entered my xxxxx@bellsouth.net & bellsouth password to no avail. I get a red light in the "internet" led On the westell router. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

| Re: westell 6100 stopped connecting to internet There's not enough information to be sure on what is going wrong.
If DSL light is green, internet light is red, then either the VPI/VCI information in the 6100 is wrong, or your ISP uses PPPoE and the PPPoE parameters (user, password) is wrong, or there is a problem at the ISP.
You will need to pull up the 6100 configuration page on your browser to check on the config. -- AT&T dsl; Speedstream 5100b modem; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.11

| Was the D-Link router recently added, and was the Westell working correctly before the D-Link was added? BTW the Westell 6100 is a modem that has routing capability, but it's not a router. If the D-Link was recently added, the problem may be in the router and modem configuration.
I had an AT&T router which I read was nearly identical to the D-Link, and I was unable to get full connectivity with my Westell modem in router mode, and the only way I could get it to work correctly was to configure the Westell modem in bridge modem and enter the PPPoE info into the AT&T router. You might try that if your modem and router are setup similar to this.
