The contracts that I always had said that the resultant code belonged to the client.

Hi all. I have a quick question. I'm doing a very basic side job for a graphic design firm. Since they create a number of websites, I'm wondering if my code will eventually migrate to some of their future projects, without my knowledge.

For any of you that are independent or freelance, do you write into contracts that the code is to be limited to this use only or is it understood (or indicated in the contract), that the code is theirs to do as they wish, including use for future projects?

I've never thought about this before because I've always dealt with end users and not a firm.

Any feedback on how to handle this is appreciated. Thanks.
