Re: unlimited service

Guess I'd be foolish not to try the Sprint phone method. $20/month + cost of phone to add a Mogul to my account, with unlimited data... hmmm. Hope I can get that 3G signal. Mogul, gotta love that name

I'm on the sprint based unlimited $70 per month plan. In my first week Iv used about 30GB and haven't heard from Millenicom yet.
With Sprint, the history has been that service via Millenicom is not capped, but the price increases. Maybe Sprint doesn't have the ability to cap their Millenicom service?

With this kind of usage, I predict another price increase soon.

Right, this is the Millenicom forum, after all...

Sprint contracting Sony Ericsson to manange their network might create some changes in their ability to monitor usage. Millenicom's unlimited Sprint service may be short lived. Hope not.

Yep, same phone . It's getting old (EOL is August 1), but it's still the best phone in the Sprint lineup, IMO.

I would have liked to get the Touch Pro 2, but Sprint is delaying their release of it, probably just in time for the original Touch Pro to go EOL. I suppose if it comes out in the next 30 days, I can return this phone, pay the restocking fee, and get the new model.

I also considered the Palm Pre since it's cheap and is supposed to be a great phone with an impressive OS, but free-tether registry hacks and apps like WMWiFiRouter (or would it be WebOSWiFiRouter?) aren't readily available, and those that are get quickly disabled/blocked by updates. So I suppose the benefit of getting an EOL phone is that Sprint can't release updates to undo free-tether mods. Also, this phone is very capable (can play YouTube, SprintTV, and other high-bandwidth stuff), so there's a lot of room for "plausible deniability" if you know what I mean.

With 25% off, I get Everything Data + 450 Anytime Minutes for $52.49 plus tax and fees. If anyone is interested in the savings, just tell Sprint you would like to apply a 25% discount with the CorpID: NAACU_ZZZ. It worked for me, no questions asked. So it's like I'm saving money on my mobile broadband and getting free voice service as well.

Plus I'm using my brother as the person who referred me, so I think we both get $50 prepaid cards. So I agree, a much better deal that Millenicom. Just a bit more complex than a simple USB adapter, though.

Until you get caught tethering and you are stuck in a 2 year contract.

I saw a guy on twitter saying he could do tether a pre to one computer using a "rooted pre".

So I just got my franklin today, and emailed MC to ask how long this "unlimited" service would last. The reply was quite comical. "We are unable to give you an answer as this depends on our upstream provider." So why the 10 dollar price hike ???

I got my franklin 2 days ago, I couldn't be happier! Its faster, no daily disconnects and I don't have that pesky 5 gb cap hanging over my head. Hopefully this will at least last untill there are some more options available.

Not at least now, anyway.

There is never anything such as "unlimited". It will only be a matter of time . . .

My Tether is one such application.

»forums.precentral.net/homebrew-a···red.html

But there's speculation that Sprint will be releasing updates to kill this application. No suck worries on the Touch Pro since it's almost EOL.

I'm not a huge fan of the tiny keyboard on it. But I like the Linux-based WebOS though, good concept, and it should inspire a lot of Linux fans to release lots of spiffy apps for it. But I think I'll hold out until they release a model with a more comfortable keyboard. I think they got the OS down (iPhone killer), but the phone itself needs some refinement.

Should have read "no such worries". Looks like I need to preview my posts a little better next time .

I signed up for the unlimited service the day that it was announced and then didn't hear anything until I got an email last evening saying that an item was being shipped out via USPS. I then logged into my member account and saw that 2 accounts show up (my current one and the unlimited one) and that a CDU-680 is being sent. So I guess if you can get unlimited service, they just go ahead and send one out without any further communication. I'm assuming the other active account gets canceled when I send back the modem I have now?

Yup. On the signup form, among the "terms" it tells that submitting the form serves as your authorization to make the change and they will do it automatically when an account is available if you are in an area with the covereage (read as Sprint coverage)

It also tells that you need to return the Pantech and everything that came with it to be received by them by the end of the month to avoid being billed for both.

I just got mine yesterday and am very happy with it. I never did like the Verizon one anyway (I used to have the CDU-680 until mine was among the many "switched" to Verizon). They mailed it via Priority Mail and I will return it that way. They do advise insuring it since you are responsible for it until it is in their possession.

I mailed my CDU-680 back today and am sticking with the UM-175... The Verizon service is just to fast and capped but i'll take the faster speeds...

i'm about 3 miles from the orange give or take i should have checked it myself. Maybe it will expand in the future... If i had the money i would have tried Cyfre amp/ant. Im getting 2.7down with the Verizon now and the CDU-680 was dial-up speeds if that..

My unlimited service went down yesterday. Cant connect anymore. Try to "Update User Profile" and I get an Error 1012. Called Millenicom yesterday and they cant seem to figure this one out. Back on dialup until they call back with how to get this fixed or the modem decides to connect again.

I've tried to update and connect on 3 different computers and they are all getting the error. Took the netbook into town to try at a different location and that didnt work either.

Anyone had this problem before? If so, what needed to be done to fix this?
