@verizon.net | reply to mcomuser Re: unlimited service
Sounds like millenicom struck a new deal to sell sprint service again. Though I haven't heard if anyone previously had any issues with over-usage of bandwidth on sprint. |

@comcast.net | reply to david_h15 Yeah I think allot of sprint users were capped at 10gb.
And from what it sounds like they'll be making the $60 per month always limited to 5gb, at the same time that they get more official about their unlimited service. |

| reply to david_h15 I wrote to Rickee at MCom, with whom I have had excellent dealings in the past year and a half that I've been an MCom subscriber, and he confirmed that the new 'unlimited' package is under discussion right now and that all MCom subscribers would be getting an email at some point regarding this, although he didn't put a date on it. Supposedly it will cost another $10/month, not really too bad for a genuine unlimited account.
I sympathize with MCom. They tried to deliver an unlimited package for a reasonable price, but were defeated by a small percentage of users who took this as a challenge to see just how much they could download and 'get away with it' and that just ruined it for everyone. There always will be those folks who will push the envelope for no other reason than it's there. I understand that there are users with genuine reasons for large amounts of data transfer, but I don't think that's what we're talking about here.
Ever wonder why the cops pick a certain location for a radar or traffic check? It's because a few morons have gone tear-assing through that place, maybe causing accidents along the way, and so now everyone gets squeezed by their egotistical, 'it's all about me' attitude. There's just a bit too much of this kind of hubris going around.

| reply to caribconsult I disagree. It's all about being honest and up front about the service being sold. The writing was on the wall as to the direction that Sprint and Verizon were heading in regards to capping and MC chose to ignore that.
If it's truly NOT "unlimited", they should have marketed the service differently from the get-go to avoid getting themselves in a jam. If you market a service as being "unlimited" without any kind of disclaimer then how can you possibly blame the customer for taking them for their word that the service truly is "unlimited".
Here we have a company that pumped up their service beyond what it truly is in order to drum up some business and now they're backpedalling. I have no respect for a company that uses that kind of marketing tactic. -- ex Hughesnet customer - thank goodness! |

| I don't see that Millenicom is any sort of jam of any kind. I do see a handful of heroic users that have been thwarted by yet another ISP. That is hardly a Millenicom problem. Millenicom fully meets the needs of the vast majority of its subscribers.
The answer for those who need this bandwidth is to move to an area with FiOS or cable internet. There is no way that satellite or wireless can physically meet their needs. |

It's apparently not a response to my comments about their questionable marketing practices as you're not addressing any of my points but rather just regurgitating more MC propaganda talk. If you don't have any issues with a company deliberately misleading you by essentially using bait and switch marketing tactics then there's not much we have to talk about.

| Only a year ago, Dennis Castle was stating Millenicom had no caps even after Sprint and Verizon had implemented caps for quite some time. Here's the thread (below)...how is it that MC continued to market themselves as not having a cap even after they knew that the service they were reselling had a cap? MC is either very good at underhanded marketing or they were very ignorant as to what was going on with Sprint and Verizon.

| reply to mooch I addressed your statement that Millenicom was in a jam. Millenicom is not in any kind of a jam. Who is in a jam are those who have run out of ISP options as they've been through them all with the same result. Their needs do not fit with the operating ISP's business model or capabilities.
No company can operate a satellite or wireless ISP and allow the type behavior some insist on doing.
I wonder if these same people react the same way when they see the speed limit is 55 MPH and they want to go 85 MPH? Some go 85 and some gets a ticket, It's the same principle. We as a society have to have rules to limit those who never consider the effect of their actions on others. It's all about them regardless of the consequences to others trying to utilize the service. |

2 edits | MC continued to claim that they had "unlimited" service with no caps well AFTER the company they buy their bandwidth from does enact a cap. MC then get's slapped by Sprint and Verizon for using to much bandwidth which results in them needing to backpedal on their "unlimited" marketing ploy and you DON'T consider this as putting themselves into any kind of a jam??!
What is just as frustrating is that even when they realize that they have to do something they don't actually come out give clear guidelines as to what the cap is but rather dance around the issue and make conflicting statements as to what kind of cap we have.
Millenicom sends all of us an email every month saying they have billed our credit card for the month. Why is it that they can't specify in one of those monthly emails what the actual cap is? I'll tell you why...it relates directly back to their deceptive marketing practices and they want to avoid spelling out what the cap is to ALL of their customers as they want to avoid scaring anyone off.
Some folks such as yourself apparently admire this kind of behavior in a company...I don't. -- ex Hughesnet customer - thank goodness! |

I've not seen any speed limit signs that say things like "go however fast you want, but don't be too heroic" or "we're not sure how fast you should be going but if you happen to go over the limit, we'll let you know" LOL! -- ex Hughesnet customer - thank goodness! |

| reply to david_h15 I signed on because they told me it was unlimited. Period. Then I only hear about the cap on this message board. It would be nice to view a movie once in a while or streaming video on youtube, but I'm too afraid to now that I read these posts. I think 59. a month is alot of money for internet service, considering my family who all live in towns that provide verizon dsl can watch anything they want with out being capped. |

| reply to david_h15 I received the Franklin today for the new Unlimited. Was on the phone with support and then customer service. Speeds were so bad I canceled the account and went back to using my Pantech (limited) account with them. I guess I'm too far from the Sprint coverage. If the unlimited worked it would have been great but it was like dialup slooowww. Tech support said about my old account, just stay under 10GB and customer service said 5GB. Don't know what to think. |

@spcsdns.net | reply to david_h15 Before going back to your capped pantech you might want to try getting an antenna/amplifier. Find a place where you can return it if it doesn't end up working.
I got the franklin from millenicom today and it's been working great. |

Are you in a rural area, a town, or a city? (I'm not trying to be nosey; just trying to figure out where the unlimited service is available.) What kind of speeds are you getting? |

| reply to david_h15 Guys, This crazy if this was power that they were limiting you would be going crazy and every one would be on the streets. They all are this with the government. China filters we cap, see it for what it is. I was on the sprint unlimited and they kicked me out of the nasty little sprint club for using 17gb a month. Now have Millenicom. We will see how long i get to keep it until I get kicked again. Guys something has to give I only have 1 more option and that is back to dial up. The ISP's have got us in a corner and we have no one to help. Everyone just needs to shut off there internet in unity and let them go out of business. |

@spcsdns.net | reply to david_h15 Yeah I'v got the unlimited service.
I'm in an area that's well within sprint mobile broadband coverage, according to their map. I don't have any amplifier or antenna and I'm getting full bars
my speeds are around 1.8 MBPS down. |
