said by dvd536 :said by JohnQPublic :Repair shops of all shapes and sizes are experiencing a renaissance in this economy. Whether it be electronics, shoe repair, or automotive repair (MAACO, AutoZone, etc.), they are probably experiencing a backlog like never before. specially with older tech like VCR's that are pretty much a commodity item these days its cheaper to buy new than repair. That was in 1998 and under warranty. I just don't want a repeat with the speaker. |

I don't want it sitting in the shop for weeks or even months. I found out after bringing it in they let consumers do their own warranty repairs. |

| What has been the experience others here have had with the time it takes to get repair work done on AV equipment?
I had taken in a VCR one time for my grandmother. In the amount of time it took for the repair she was diagnosed with cancer, had several hospitalizations, chemotherapy and somewhat of a recovery before the repair work was completed. It took 4 months total for the work.
I just brought in a speaker under warranty. I was told it would be checked in about 2 days. I called to check and it hasn't been looked at yet and it's been in the shop for over a week. I know what the problem is, it's the cross-over network, and mentioned that when I brought it in.
I'm thinking I should just get it back and DIY. |
