| Netopia 3347 dedicated to Qwest I just switched ISP's from Qwest to ACN. Now my DSL is about 4 times faster for almost the same price which is great.  The problem is, ACN provides only a modem and I've been spoiled by the Netopia wireless gateway which included a 4 hub switch (needed for the multiple machines in my home) and a wireless router. I would like to fix the 3347 to work with my new ACN signal. From what I've read in other posts this process ranges from difficult (I don't work with networks; barely know what FTP is; etc.) to impossible.
First, is there any hope? Can I make the Netopia work with the new DSL signal or do I have to shop for a separate router even though I own this perfectly good one?
Second, if it is possible, how do I do it?

That was very helpful. I've set up the Netopia gateway as shown in the attached image. I've tried to determine what the VPI and VCI settings might be first by looking on the UI of the modem provided by ACN, second by searching on the internet, and finally by calling the support people from the ISP. Nothing! I've also included an attachment showing the ACN modem's connection settings in case any of it can be used to answer this question when viewed by someone who knows what they're doing. The support people just say they don't know that kind of information and recommend buying a stand-alone wireless router from Radio Shack. I intend to call them back and see if I get a different response from a different technician but I'm afraid they've been trained to respond in the way the first one did. Why they insist on our using their modem I don't know. We're paying them for the service!
I am tempted to start plugging in values and use trial and error.
Any more pointers or ideas would be gratefully accepted.

After my last post I started trying different values. My first one tried worked!  After the connection was up the UI showed that this signal is associated with Covad. The values I used (so that it might help others in the same boat) were 0/35. I really appreciate the time you took to point me in the right direction. It's great when stuff works!

| Re: Netopia 3347 dedicated to Qwest I suspect that if you had turned on the Netopia modem's "Autosensing" function, the modem would have learned the required parameters for your connection.
