Embarq outage in Danville, VA

Hello is anyone else experience an outage in Danville, VA or near there for Embarq High Speed Internet. I currently have an internet downstream connection of 69 kbps. while my upstream is consistent at 576. . Can anyone explain this or is anyone experiencing this. I notified Embarq and they say there is an outage in the area but would like confirmation.

MY internet was down earlier this morning around 10 AM but when I checked again around 12 PM it was up and finally running at the speed it is supposed to. I have had ongoing problems for several months and I live about 30 miles from Danvillle.
BTW, Embarq_Joey is the man if you need someone to check it out for you.

Thanks for the response. My connection was totally out at around 10 am. But now it is up but so slow that it is unusable. It is running at 64 kbps downstream. That is no better than dial up. The upstream is still consistent at 576 kbps. I am extremely fed up with Embarq. I have been a customer for only a month and have had six outages and disgustingly slow speeds.

I am happy to report that my service has been restored. It turns out that my problem was two fold. The first problem was that there was an outage in the area. That was repaired within a few hours. The second issue was that I had a bad filter on one of my phones and it really degraded the performance. Everything is back to normal now.

Our service was down from about 10 am until 13:00 both at work and here at home as well. It seemed to be doing OK after it came back up. I had another short term outage this morning which prompted a modem reset and I'm happy to say that was the first in months!! Used to be a 40-50 times a day thing. I sure hope those days are not returning...ever!

I didn't call it in to customer service but did contact one of my contacts in the field and he acknowledged there was a problem"up the road from here" So they were already more than aware of the happenings LOL!

EDIT: After some more research I have found our ping times here jumped from around 61 to 205 currently and we are evidently not routed the same way. Our closest test point according to Speedtest.net is Greensboro Nc now instead or northern virginia. We have been routed that way from time to time before and have had much higher latency. Hopefully it's a temporary routing issue and will be corrected in the coming days. It has also cut my upload times almost in half. Nothings changed locally so I attribute this to the routing change within the network

I am happy to report my speeds are back to where they should be and my ping times are back down in the 63ms range where they normally reside. Whatever prompted the routing change has hopefully passed and we are back where we need to be!!

Hope everyone else troubled by this problem is back to their norm also!

I'm about 3-1/2 hours drive from you. This area was switched over to a new netblock late last evening. Don't know if it's connected or not, but glad to hear you're OK now.

Me too!! Our's has been stable for awhile now. Since our pair was completely reworked a month or so ago. Faster would certainly be better but I am just happy it is doing "as advertised" LOL!! Restarting everything here several times a day was a bit aggravating
