what internet plan from at&t do you have & what modem? Also how many telephones are in your house and what Ghz do they use (looking at the phone in most cases should tell you) and do you have any kind of alarm system at all? (these can sometimes cause interference).

6 Mb UP / NO Alarm / 1 Phone, 2 Wire Wireless Router, DSL constantly drops even when i hook the modem directly into the NID. Thinking about calling Comcastik tomorrow after being down for a week / 2 techs later.

It sounds to me like the wiring at or around your house might be bad.... so switching ISP's probably won't help much..

I found a cool new page.

DSL Line (Wire Pair): Line 1 (inner pair)
Downstream Rate Cap: 7040 kbps
Downstream Atten. at 300kHz: 50.1 dB

Uncancelled Echo: 26.6 dB Suspicious - check phone filters and alarm
VCXO Frequency Offset: -23.9 ppm Ok
Final Rx Gain: 21.4 dB Ok
Impulse Noise Comp. Tones: 45 Suspicious - impulse noise detected
Excessive Impulse Noise: 0 Ok
Impulse noise protection: 2.76
Delay of latency path: 15.95 ms

WTF is Impulse Noise?
Plus all of the filters are on

If the problem is STILL present even at the NID (You plugged it directly into the test jack, right?) then aside from a potentially faulty DSL modem, bad grounding somewhere or a bad phone cord, the problem is on AT&T's side.

As for the impulse noise, anything from a bad dimmer light to bad grounding somewhere can cause this issue.

How many times has a tech been out to your house? If they are making promises to have things fixed and not coming through then I think that's a valid complaint.

You mentioned in one of your posts testing at the NID and you also kept loosing connection.

Someone else made a suggestion to a fellow poster to contact their state's Public Service Commission. It couldn't hurt to see if they could help.
