| [Help Me] EBR-2310 unstable (p2p)
I need desperate help; my recent router problems have been driving me cuckoo
OK so what happened was my old D-link (old model from years ago) recently died. It was great though, everything was fine. Plug in things = work. Portforwarding = p2p will work. Simple.
But there's something weird about these 'new models'. So first I bought a new Linksys, and whenever p2p (bittorent) was enabled, it would kill/hang the connection, which either required a manual reboot of the router or allowing the download to continue/work, but hanging any other internet-work (ex: gaming, web surfing, etc. nothing!)
So I got fed up (after adjusting all sorts of settings ranging from connection limits on Bittorent to 50, etc.). I read about all that MTU stuff, didn't really seem to help either. Then there was disabling DHT (on bittorent), and that turned out to be kind of..weird... but anyways I CANT BELIEVE there's no fix! This is a common problem, and still, I haven't been able to find ONE effective fix! Even weirder, my OLD ROUTER worked PERFECTLY?!
I decided to change my router altogether. Now I'm using the EBR-2310 (thinking D-link would solve the problem). But hmm..now its even stranger. The Internet is perfect...sometimes... eh, whenever it 'chooses'. It's INCREDIBLY unstable. Sometimes it's useless, and sometimes, it's perfect (20% of the time) where you can log on god-knows-whatever and the connection is still stable running fast! and then... *blop*. It's all gone!
So now I have a raging bull without a leash. I can't control my router, but I -know- it has the potential to work (because of the 20% of the time). But it's just completely out of control, and again, programs like bittorent will just make it go completely bonkers, which either again, requires a manual restart or letting it suck up all the bandwidth, disabling all other uses of the Internet.
YIKES. Help please! I have a hunch that it's some weird setting/terminology in router config that I'm unfamiliar with. Some panacea perhaps?!
Thanks in advance |
