| [ Extreme] Utorrent issue: SMC Wireless modem from Extreme
Hey guys hope you can help. I use to have express and everything was good. I recently wanted more cap, so switched to extreme and they made me switch my old Mortorola modem with this SMC wireless modem, but I am still using it with a Linksys router i had with the M. modem. Basically the problem is now utorrent is always showing red sign for the status. My linksys still has the proper ports forwarded but I dont' know what else to do. Thanks for any suggestions!

I think if I read it right you are still using the Motorola modem

| Re: [ Extreme] Utorrent issue: SMC Wireless modem from Extreme He is using SMC8014W-G wireless cable (crap-)router. And probably doing dual NAT, since SMC is in router mode. Torrents get forwarded properly through Linksys, but SMC stops them altogether.
I would try putting SMC to bridge mode, if possible at all (disable DHCP?) I used to own SMC hardware and it froze under heavy load every day. Man, I wouldn't have given away Motorola. All I hear is that people have problems with that SMC router.
Aren't you paying more rental now for that "SMC wireless networking" thing? I think it was like $5 a month or something...

@rogers.com | thanks i286, could you elaborate on how I could do the 'bridging'? and disable DHCP..Sorry I'm new to this. Thanks!
btw yea it is higher rental charge but I got them to waive it off...if I had known, I would've kept the Motorola >

| I'm assuming you've got your network goes like this: Internet -> SMC -> Linksys -> Your PC.
The manual for the SMC8014W-G shows how to turn the modem/router into bridge mode, but it appears to be disabled, or at least with mine it is. The only problem I've had with the SMC router is a wireless printer that I recently bought was killing the connection, but other than that, it has worked fine. So, I would suggest not using the linksys and just going ahead and forwarding the ports on the SMC router. If that's not an option and you still want to use the Linksys, then you can forward the ports to your Linksys router, on the SMC router. Just find the external IP address of your Linksys, probably on the status page of your Linksys, and forward the ports on your SMC router to that. I've got my network set up with a DLink like that, and it works great.
So, to summarize, either don't use the Linksys at all, or get on the SMC and forward the same ports to the Linksys (which will in turn forward to your PC).
