1 edit | reply to STLCompGuy 1 way cable if I remember.
download 128k-Charter Cable UPloaded from Earthlink telephone wire. For me that was 26K thru the telephone wire.
But, this is the neat part, You got one Earthlink email account!
Weeeeeeeeeeee
When Charter was down, you could use Earthlink for both up and down.

"can I ask what price you are paying with Charter and what do you get for that price?"
When u verse first came out in Nov 2007, Charter just game me the package price. I didnt not even ask for it $59.99 for everything
one Year later, everything for $79.99 This is the price U Verse can not get to. |

| reply to BoMarty can I ask what price you are paying with Charter and what do you get for that price?
The reason my wife and I switched to ATT U Verse: 1. NO whole house DVR option available. My wife and I had to fight over recorded shows
2. NO NFL Network.
3. NO Big Ten Network. I live in Missouri and for some reason the Powers at Be at Charter decided to not offer the Big Ten Network in Missouri. (like people in Missouri could not have gone to school out of state to a BIG TEN School.)

| reply to STLCompGuy said by STLCompGuy :St. Louis metro is a huge area...not every single house that is serviced by ATT will have U-verse available. Its a lot easier to retrofit 40 homes for U verse than a population of metro St. Louis of 3+ million. said by markopoleo :Ok how can St.Louis not have U-Verse? [It also doesn't help 26 gauge wire is being used for quite a few phone lines.] |

| reply to morbo I dont like to Auto pay when I have Charter because their bundle and special pricing expire quite frequently, and at times the bill is incorrect, so I feel much better when I go online and pay the bill each month on my credit card.
said by morbo :If you set up auto pay to a credit card, that more than one bill concern of yours is a non issue. Especially if you end up paying less for service with two companies than if you bundle with just one. |

| reply to audiolocator thats good to know...I was going to college out of state in Ohio in the mid 1990's and I thought St. Louis was way behind in technology because they did not offer cable Internet at the house my parents were staying in (Creve Coeur area). I believe at the time they first had TCI, than AT&T bought them out and finally Charter came into the picture. I always thought St. Louis was not much of a tech city because when I was going to college 1995 and on, we did not have cable internet (at my parents house) nor were there any U Scan available at the grocery stores
said by audiolocator :said by STLCompGuy :yes...@Home was AT&T Broadband and TCI was a different cable company. Charter came into the picture in STL when AT&T and TCI left. Wrong. @Home was not AT&T Broadband. It was an ISP serviced by many cable co's across the country, including Charter, TCI and AT&T. Charter has been serving parts of Saint Louis since the mid-90's. TCI sold to AT&T, which then sold to Charter. |

Internet wise, Charter Ultra60, Uverse, "up to" 18 meg. Plus I have been satified with Charter internet since 1999. Yes they did. They offered the @home service, along with TCI. |

| reply to morbo getting satellite for tv/dvr and another company for Internet/phone seems like a big hastle to me...I like everything as easy and having everything on one bill. thats why I love shopping at places like Superwalmart because they have everything in one place
said by morbo :Remember there's another option: satellite for tv/dvr and then get your internet and phone if needed from Charter or AT&T. If you're techy guy, you'll know that AT&T's internet speeds acceptable but a bit lame compared to what is offered by cable. However, Charter has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you're set up, you're fine. Getting to that point or if you have a problem that needs to be fixed, good luck. In summary: TV/DVR = satellite Phone = AT&T or Charter Internet = Charter |

| reply to BoMarty The DVR on Charter sucks. Charter does not provide the Big Ten Network (big for me since I went to a BIG Ten school). Also Charter does not have the NFL Network.
