| Anyone in St. Louis - Charter or AT&T Uverse? anyone in the St. Louis area who has experienced both Charter and AT&T UVerse? I am interested in finding out how they compare in price and features? I am a techy kind of guy and always likes to try out the newest technology. |

| I live in S. City and, unfortunately, Uverse won't be available here until sometime in fiscal 2015. However, my parents and several friends live in the county and absolutely LOVE their Uverse. AT&T has never been known for stellar customer service, but it'd be hard to be worse than Charter. The channel choice, from what I can gather, is about the same as the digital package from Charter; but, the ability Uverse gives to watch DVR recordings in rooms other than the one you recorded them in is a huge plus. |

we are switching to ATT Uverse because of the DVR advantage.

I have a choice, and after looking into Cable TV, Uverse pricing vs Charter, Charter was way more cheaper for same services. Internet wise, Charter Ultra60, Uverse, "up to" 18 meg.
Plus I have been satified with Charter internet since 1999. |

Not sure where you are in South city but live near tower grove and we have Uverse, have had it for about 6 months |

The DVR on Charter sucks. Charter does not provide the Big Ten Network (big for me since I went to a BIG Ten school). Also Charter does not have the NFL Network.

Remember there's another option: satellite for tv/dvr and then get your internet and phone if needed from Charter or AT&T.
If you're techy guy, you'll know that AT&T's internet speeds acceptable but a bit lame compared to what is offered by cable. However, Charter has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you're set up, you're fine. Getting to that point or if you have a problem that needs to be fixed, good luck.
In summary:
TV/DVR = satellite
Phone = AT&T or Charter
Internet = Charter |

| getting satellite for tv/dvr and another company for Internet/phone seems like a big hastle to me...I like everything as easy and having everything on one bill. thats why I love shopping at places like Superwalmart because they have everything in one place

| yes...@Home was AT&T Broadband and TCI was a different cable company. Charter came into the picture in STL when AT&T and TCI left. |

Charter has been serving parts of Saint Louis since the mid-90's. TCI sold to AT&T, which then sold to Charter. |

If you set up auto pay to a credit card, that more than one bill concern of yours is a non issue. Especially if you end up paying less for service with two companies than if you bundle with just one. |

thats good to know...I was going to college out of state in Ohio in the mid 1990's and I thought St. Louis was way behind in technology because they did not offer cable Internet at the house my parents were staying in (Creve Coeur area). I believe at the time they first had TCI, than AT&T bought them out and finally Charter came into the picture. I always thought St. Louis was not much of a tech city because when I was going to college 1995 and on, we did not have cable internet (at my parents house) nor were there any U Scan available at the grocery stores

I dont like to Auto pay when I have Charter because their bundle and special pricing expire quite frequently, and at times the bill is incorrect, so I feel much better when I go online and pay the bill each month on my credit card.

| St. Louis metro is a huge area...not every single house that is serviced by ATT will have U-verse available. Its a lot easier to retrofit 40 homes for U verse than a population of metro St. Louis of 3+ million.

The same can be said of metro Milwaukee,WI.. while U-Verse it is available in some parts, build-out is another matter altogether. [It also doesn't help 26 gauge wire is being used for quite a few phone lines.] |
