Charter very much has provided internet since 1999, I had a 1 way cable modem from them in T&C in 1997 or 1998.

St. Louis metro is a huge area...not every single house that is serviced by ATT will have U-verse available. Its a lot easier to retrofit 40 homes for U verse than a population of metro St. Louis of 3+ million.

If you set up auto pay to a credit card, that more than one bill concern of yours is a non issue. Especially if you end up paying less for service with two companies than if you bundle with just one.

Wrong. @Home was not AT&T Broadband. It was an ISP serviced by many cable co's across the country, including Charter, TCI and AT&T.

Charter has been serving parts of Saint Louis since the mid-90's. TCI sold to AT&T, which then sold to Charter.

yes...@Home was AT&T Broadband and TCI was a different cable company. Charter came into the picture in STL when AT&T and TCI left.

Remember there's another option: satellite for tv/dvr and then get your internet and phone if needed from Charter or AT&T.

If you're techy guy, you'll know that AT&T's internet speeds acceptable but a bit lame compared to what is offered by cable. However, Charter has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you're set up, you're fine. Getting to that point or if you have a problem that needs to be fixed, good luck.

In summary:

TV/DVR = satellite
Phone = AT&T or Charter
Internet = Charter

I have a choice, and after looking into Cable TV, Uverse pricing vs Charter, Charter was way more cheaper for same services. Internet wise, Charter Ultra60, Uverse, "up to" 18 meg.

Plus I have been satified with Charter internet since 1999.

I live in S. City and, unfortunately, Uverse won't be available here until sometime in fiscal 2015. However, my parents and several friends live in the county and absolutely LOVE their Uverse. AT&T has never been known for stellar customer service, but it'd be hard to be worse than Charter. The channel choice, from what I can gather, is about the same as the digital package from Charter; but, the ability Uverse gives to watch DVR recordings in rooms other than the one you recorded them in is a huge plus.
