| Re: Internet is "going away" again Well considering there are some 15 devices on my home network including a gamer, another heavy internet activity taking place, and 2 casual users the test was not under ideal situation. No complaints by the users on the network so it is working fine for me. | |

| I lost DSLReports before y'all posted. I left the house and just came back home. I unplugged the modem and the router, plugged them back in and here I am.
I don't think it's me. -- Team Discovery

| What does 'ipconfig -all' tell you about your DNS servers? If you are seeing a private IP address, such as 192.168.0.1, you might have trouble. I find that I have to turn off DNS relay in my router and manually code the ATTIS DNS servers ([68.94.156.1] and [68.94.157.1]) in my router, or I get weird results. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum | |

| Re: Internet is "going away" again Thanks Norman. I got up this morning to find that I had no internet again! I unplugged the modem, plugged it back in, and had a connection again. The is modem (probably two years old) Motorola, style MSTATEA.
I changed the DNS settings per your advice in the router.
Strange that things would be happening now if it was the router settings. -- Team Discovery

| Re: Internet is "going away" again I am not clear on the chronology of your actions, and the resulting events.
In any case, though I have never had trouble with the ATTIS DNS servers, some in AT&T Midwest, and Nevada, have apparently had troubles. You might temporarily try third party DNS servers, either Level 3 (pick any two: 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4, 4.2.2.5, 4.2.2.6), or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220). OpenDNS does not report a proper NXDOMAIN error, unless you sign up an account with them, and configure the account in their "Dashboard". But as a temporary test, it should be fine. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

| Re: Internet is "going away" again Order of events. I had no internet when I got up this morning. I unplugged the modem and plugged in back in again. After I had connectivity, I was able to reach DSLReports and saw that you had responded to my thread. I then changed my router settings to the AT&T DNS servers.
I can hope that this solved the problem ....
