Re: Stormy Midwest; hot South and West

Well here in Key West we are are normal around 90 peak, most days a decent breeze.... yeah the rest of the SE even central FL. Hot as heck... frequent triple digits.

And most who have been here visiting in dead of summer say how oppressive it is.... but 95 is the record still.... just breaking 90 is normal hi summer.... been well over 100 in much the rest of FL.

Last heast wave a few years ago we were the coolest place on the east coast, though being the southernmost point. Still hot and hunid, but coolest (vs just as humind 100+ DC/ex swamp) but we accustomed to it and 10 deg cooler and breezy too. People dropping dead in DC and Chicago, Phili, and elsewhere that year.

The only time a heat or cold wave makes a difference is were people are not accusomed to it. And even here I am not an AC'd house that is NEVER cooler than 80F(Just enought to dry air and no shock in to out), except in winter it hits near 60 or below and pull out the space heater. And Yes tourist all of us in jackets and sweaqter, maybe even long pants are the locals, you are the nuts in T's and shorts and swiming, not realizing its WINTER ..

KW record low and high are 42 and 95.... you are neither going to boil or freeze (also why we have a lot of homeless for a small place) to death.
Even they don't.... biggest summer deaths here were elderly evacuated from care/hospital rurn out needlessly for a hurricane evacuation... but natural situation just virtually never happens even to the el;lderly that have long been here.

Winter typical high 70's day 70 night.... summer near 90 day and 80 night. Though not national record temps, on average the warmest place actually. Though in Dec-Feb we do have those occasional night dips into the 50's maybe 40's and just over 60 day highs. (Yeah that Canadian BS dips way down here now and then and when Atlanta or Jacksonville just shuts down because they don't barely know what a snowflake is or how to cope even if its only 1/2 an inch or less.
Yet again warmest average often hi of sumer the coolest place on the east coast.

Midwest
The weekend will start off stormy for parts of the Midwest and Plains. A strong cold front will bring severe thunderstorms across the Upper Midwest, Midwest, and central Plains today, and across the Midwest to Ohio valley Sunday. Damaging winds, large hail, and flash flood producing downpours will accompany a few of the storms. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Ahead of this front it will be hot, with highs ranging from the lower 100s in Kansas, to the upper 90s to near 100 through the Middle Mississippi valley. An upper disturbance could also bring a few isolated severe thunderstorms over the northern Plains and northern parts of the upper Midwest. Sunday, temperatures will not be as hot in the wake of a cold front. Highs will range from the 70s over the Upper Midwest, 80s over the Midwest, to the 80s and 90s in the Plains.

Northeast
It will be an unsettled weekend for parts of the Northeast. A weather disturbance will linger over northern New England today, in the wake of yesterday's cold front; expect scattered showers and thunderstorms from Philadelphia and New York City, northward. The interior Northeast, mainly along and west of the Appalachians, will see mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures with highs in the 70s and 80s. Another cold front will move into the interior areas Sunday, bringing another chance for showers and thunderstorms there. A few thunderstorms could be severe from the Upper Ohio Valley into western Upstate New York.

South
The heat will be the dominate feature across much of the South this weekend. A ridge of high pressure will dominate much of the South. The southern Plains and Texas see highs in the lower 100s today, with upper 90s to near 100 through the Lower Mississippi valley. The Southeast will have highs in the middle and upper 90s. Meanwhile, a weak cold front will bring a few scattered thunderstorms from the Tennessee Valley to North Carolina. A few storms could be severe. Isolated thunderstorms will impact Gulf and Southeast coasts. Sunday, a stronger cold front will drop temperatures into the lower 90s through the southern Plains, and bring a risk for severe thunderstorms into the Tennessee Valley. The heat will continue south of the front, with highs ranging from the lower 100s in Texas to the upper 90s along the Gulf.

West
It will be a very hot weekend for parts of the far West. Large high pressure will settle over the West Coast this weekend, allowing highs to reach the 105 to 110 range in the Central Valley of California and into the mid-to-upper 80s in the Willamette and Columbia Valleys. These temperatures will be 5 to 15 degrees above average. Highs will push into the 90s in parts of Montana and Idaho Sunday while temperatures could approach 110 in parts of the Central Valley of California. Expect highs in the low 90s in eastern Montana and around Salt Lake City Monday while the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys still bake with 100+ degree heat. California will tie or set a few daily record highs this weekend. Meanwhaile, a few scattered thunderstorms willl impact parts of Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.

Why is it that people who never pay attention to the weather are always the first to complain.
