Call Charter (or post in the Direct forum) and have them replace YOUR Moxi. |

 | reply to dwalnuts good luck with that....Charter doesnt swap equipment from one acct to another if your friend has charter and just was nice and gave you a spare box ...that wont fly ..you will need to have a tech come out to fix or replace YOUR moxi |
|
 | That would be if you local office actually had any. I'm stuck with a 6416 that I hate. |

 | reply to dwalnuts I hope you are not talking about the silver moxi box with the two USB ports in the front.
I live in Riverside CA and we replaced our old DVR's because the sound would be off when we recorded things. BOTH our boxes did that.
We went to Charter and had them replaced with the silver moxi boxes. The one in my room overheats and shuts off every other day. The one in the living room worked fine until 1 day I came in and it was dead.
Called charter and had a tech come out, he said the moxi's that we had sucked, and that they overheated constantly and he has replaced a lot of them. He told me that they do not have a auto-shutoff and so they just burn out from never being off.
He replaced the 1 with the one of the old DVR's that we originally got that had the sound problem. So far nothing, but I miss the features of the old moxi as it would automaticly start at the beginning of the show if I overshot it.
We called and we cant get another one, so I had to put the one in the room in the living room.
Hopefully you can get another one, we cant. |

CivrockPremium join:2005-06-25 North Wilkesboro, NC 2 edits | Everybody's waiting for Charter to introduce the new Moxi (black) into more markets, the old silver ones seem to have quite a few known and reoccuring flaws... and they're getting old in general.
No "new" silver ones are being used anymore, broken ones get replaced with refurbished ones, broken ones get refurbished and re-introduced into the circle... and so on. They're constantly getting replaced, sometimes they even replace broken ones with broken ones (unknowingly) because they weren't properly repaired in the shop. This is what the tech told me who replaced my defective Moxi HD-DVR on June 13th.
As far as I know the new black Moxis are currently only available in MO and being tested in WI, no clue which states are next on the list.
Come on, Charter! Time for upgrades! |
|
 | reply to dwalnuts The Silver ones Charter stopped buying a few years ago due to the fact that their programming is in violation of a Microsoft patent so Charter could only refurbish them...yeah the new black ones are ok but again Charter is cash strapped so dont look for the black ones for a while |

 | I own one of the new black Moxis. They cost 800 dollars and are much better than Tivo. you dont need to pay a monthly subscription like you do with Tivo, and the Moxi only takes a dual stream cable card. It also needs to be connected to the internet for guide updates. Another cool thing is, since it is connected to your internet router, the moxi can see your music, pictures and videos on your computer and plays them! It is so cool! ALSO, it has media net to let you play shows on Hulu and netflicks! IT"S AWESOME!! goto Moxi.com for more details. |

You can get a TiVo HD with a 1TB hard drive and lifetime service for $719 shipped on eBay and it'll wipe the floor with that moxi box.
you sound like a Moxi Salesman or something... |
|
 | reply to dwalnuts Yes! You can pick your headend from the remote even! However you need to have Charter fix it I'm sure they would not appreciate your friend giving you theirs. |

If you get a multistream card you pay the $3 for the card and you can record 2 shows at once. Otherwise with two single stream cards you can record two as well. You can't get on demand but because of limited HD choices with ondemand I don't see it being an issue. |

 | reply to dwalnuts I'm thinking of purchasing my own Cable box soon. Looked at both the Moxi and Tivo. In what catagory does the Tivo wipe the floor of the Moxi in? PQ? etc? |
