If you don't, they just won't deduct the $3 and you'll have to wait til the following bill.
You would think that this would be the case, but the last time I swapped in my own modem due to their Toshiba failing to handle the line quality (this was probably 18 months ago) they started charging me an *additional* $5/mo for unreturned equipment.

I had hoped to just leave my own in place and keep theirs as a backup (forgoing the $3/mo credit) just to have their equipment available to swap in so as to avoid a service call fee when the line fails, as it does about once a year. No dice, so my modem sits in a box, and I keep using the Toshiba.

You can return it anytime you want. As long as you return it within a billing a cycle they'll deduct the $3 off your bill. If you don't, they just won't deduct the $3 and you'll have to wait til the following bill.

[Equipment] How long I have to return equipment after buying BYO

I got a BYOM modem, can I connect it today and return the equipment on Monday? Or is that too late and will I be penalized?

Thanks.
