Sounds like a heat issue. I'd run thermal monitoring software or check in BIOS, or both. Your CPU might be overheating due to improper mounting of the heat sink.

Did you clean the heat sink with proper cleaner, NOT touch the surfaces with your fingers, and did you PROPERLY apply thermal compound as per directions?

Try unplugging the power supply first (important!) and then replugging RAM and Video.

Your monitor might be defective as well. Can you use some other monitor to see?

Could have been with the socket A system but the new system is running very cool. CPU 30C +/- 2C, case/mobo only a couple degrees warmer.
