the ad claims are more than likely 99.999999% false, but you were one of a few hundred that decided to inquire about it. the others just went with it, gave their info for the 2.95, and will be inquiring later about their $2500. -- | map your city | |

| HA! sorry, but people that don't research before submitting information where they get something for free that's advertised on the radio should know better. Especially when they are asked for financial information to where they will be charged a small fee for information! I've heard the commercial plenty of times and of course decided to read all of the disclaimers, privacy and other notices on the website to see what it's all about. After reading them, it still didn't really make sense to me so I searched for reviews and found several.
My high school government teacher would say "There is no such thing as a free lunch!" and I have always remembered this phrase and followed it when things like this have come up. |

I am quite amazed by the number of obvious scams that I hear advertised on the radio. It seems that there are no longer any standards. Is fraud the only growth industry left in America? -- AT&T dsl; Speedstream 5100b modem; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.11 |

Your teacher was clearly a Robert A. Heinlein (science fiction author) fan. That is a variation on a quote from Heinlein's, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress: "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" (rendered as, "TANSTAAFL"). -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

| reply to nwrickert I've wondered the same thing. I don't expect radio stations to be cops or Private Investigators, but for crying out loud, some of the commercials I hear could only be considered legitimate by a moron. Looks to me like the radio stations don't care if it is a scam as long as they're getting the ad revenue. -- Tradition: Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid. --despair.com |

| reply to pcdebb I had just given my information to this website and looked at the fine print. They will charge your credit card $40/month after the seven day trial offer. Plus another $20 to a sister site/program. I called the customer service number to cancell right away. We shall see if they really cancelled. |

| reply to NormanS Free Lunch (Way before Robert A. Heinlein's lifetime.)
»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_lunch quote: The phrase free lunch, in U. S. literature from about 1870 to 1920, refers to a tradition once common in saloons in many places in the United States. These establishments included a "free" lunch, varying from rudimentary to quite elaborate, with the purchase of at least one drink. These free lunches were typically worth far more than the price of a single drink.[1] The saloon-keeper relied on the expectation that most customers would buy more than one drink, and that the practice would build patronage for other times of day.
Sometimes, free food or drink is supplied today, often by gambling establishments.
The saying "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch", often abbeviated to TANSTAAFL, refers to this custom, meaning that things which appear to be free are always paid for in some way.
»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TANSTAAFL quote: TANSTAAFL is an acronym for the adage "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" originating in the late 1930s and later popularized by science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein in his 1966 novel The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress
