Your municipal water is well within EPA standards for adults.
Those bar graphs don't mean anything to me, as I look at laboratory data (with real numbers even) on all these chemicals/contaminants every day and know the MCL for each.

guess like everything else today quality is poor, higher prices for less of a product item

I live in the City of Houston and I drink the water straight out of the tap all the time. I tried the PUR filter you use and just didn't like the hassle and I found the water tastes the same as straight from the tap. I also have filtered water on my refrigerator door - still use the water straight from the tap - I like it better. |

What type of system do you have on that fridge? I'm looking to get one for mine, since I find I use the water/ice in the fridge door a lot. Are they easy to install? |

| reply to NotRequired I have the Pur Faucet mount system, stage 3. My filters last about 3 months before the water flow slows down. Even then, I get another 1-2 months out of it, just takes a little bit longer to get the volume of water needed. During the winter, I drink 1-3 pots of Tea/day, wife uses it to fill the baby's bottles for his formula every day, everyone uses it to drink, and wash our veggies in. Even when the filter is nearly done for with just a trickle of water, it's still noticeable better then straight from the tap. Milwaukee Water is horrible. I wouldn't drink un-filtered here, especially after every rain storm, the sewage district dumps millions of gallons of raw sewage into Lake Michigan right where our tap water comes from. -- »KmanScooters.com Home of Wisconsin's Most Affordable Cars, Motorcycles and Scooters |

I think it depends on where you live, here the tap water doesn't taste that good to me. So I buy Dasani or Aqafina bottled water as it tastes better and when its on sale you can get a case for $4. I thought about home delivery of water but like grabbing a few bottles if I need to when I go out. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix |

| reply to NotRequired We ended up getting a filtration system for the whole house. Our water was so nasty that both my wife and I got sick from it when we moved into the new house. It was tested and came out to a harndess of 22, whatever that means. It was awful. I'd take a shower and come out feeling more dirty than when I went in. And it wasn't just a day or so. We dealt with it for about 2 weeks before we got the filter system. County water = bad. -- Does Microsoft mean small and squishy? |

I think your water would be considered "very hard". |

| reply to NotRequired Just get a Reverse Osmosis system - they run $200 - 250 and are easy to install. I change my pre-filters yearly at a cost of ~$20 and get consistently good tasting water from it. Paying the $45/mo for bottled water was getting too expensive, even if it did come from a "Natural Spring". |
