BillRoland : RIP Billy Mays. I really liked the guy, I found some of the things he did on YouTube, like an Office spoof video, that were really funny (to me anyway), and the humor was mostly at his expense.

For the record, I'm a believer in Kaboom. Somehow I ended up with a bottle of it, and I used it to clean the shower not expecting it to do anything, and I have to admit its the best shower cleaner I've ever used, it seemed especially good at dissolving hard water calcium deposits. Never used OxiClean but I know people who do and they generally give it good reviews.

hypertensive heart disease. no blood clots found. also a mention of painkillers, i think i heard hydrocodone (didnt catch it, was typing). I do remember MJ (from the MJ Morning Show) talked to him that evening and said he sounded groggy and he supposedly went to bed early.

this is preliminary and no link to the airplane incident.

edit: the painkillers is a result of his upcoming surgery he had scheduled, so they justify it

Mark F : Billy Mays was a loud pitchman (Oxy Clean, The Awesome Auger, Mighty Putty), but Ed McMahon was really dedicated.

Once, Johnny was holding a bottle of beer as he was introducing a Budweiser commercial. Then, it slipped out of his hand and-crash! Next thing, Ed was on his knees picking up the broken glass. Johnny quipped- "Are you licking the floor?".

Another time, Ed was doing a live Alpo commercial, but the dog wouldn't go near the food, like he did during rehearsals.
So, Ed got down on his hand and knees, crawled over to the bowl of dog food and barked.

As Billy might've said, that's awesome!

Too bad Ed and Johnny's funniest stuff isn't shown on TV.

Its called a subdural hematoma. Bumps on the head that can seem minor cause bleeding which eventually builds up and kills you. It is incredibly easy to ignore the symptoms until it is too late. Same thing happened to Natasha Richardson while skiing in Canada.

One key difference between the two though, at least in this point of the story. The subdural hematoma that killed Natasha is most notably indicated by a period of brief unconsciousness, followed by a "lucid period", or being conscious again for a length of time until again falling unconscious, often for good.

If Billy didn't get knocked out, it is hard to point back to the subdural injury theory. It *could* happen, but I don't think it is as likely.

Turbocpe : Having watched Pitchman since it comes on after Mythbusters and having an interest in inventions, I thought the show was good and Billy seemed like a decent guy - which was not exactly what I expected having watched his commercials in the past.

Too bad to hear about the news. I'll miss Pitchman since I'm guessing that will end. Billy did most of the pitches and the show probably won't be the same without him.

Ken : He actually sent a tweet while he was stuck on the runway in the plane. Notice he doesn't even mention being hit on the head. I can only assume that since he didn't mention the blow to the head, he must not have considered it that big of a deal.

I met him in the local Home Depot about 5-7 years ago when Oxy Clean first made the jump from TV only to stores... he was pretty cool and chilled out. A friend and I were in there picking up something and he was just sitting in a metal folding chair in back of a cheap plastic table with a few tubs of Oxy Clean on display... no one even seemed to notice he was there, everyone was just walking past him... we stopped and talked to him for a few minutes, can't remember what about... he seemed pretty bored.

He's the one TV pitchman I'll miss... besides Ed McMahon and his old Conceco Direct commercials.

Mays was a passenger on Saturday of a 737 airplane that had a front tire blow out, said spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagan. Mays and other passengers were interviewed by US Airways staff after the hard landing. Responders reported no injuries.

"Tampa Fire (Rescue) reported no injuries. Nobody asked for treatment," Geoghagan said. "Some of the passengers said they had bruises."

Mays told a FOX 13 reporter that he was returning from the filming of an Oxyclean commercial in Philadelphia, according to the station.

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping," he said. "It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

After watching the "pitchmen" show, I thought Billy was a pretty likable guy (unlike Sullivan).

The airplane incident reminds me of what happened to Natasha Richardson. Apparently Mays did get hit on the head last night.
