andunn join:2001-09-06 Linn Creek, MO | [XPPro] Resetting Administrators password in XP Pro My neighbor bought a laptop from someone who is closing down part of their business. He got it for a couple hundred dollars.
The only problem is that no one remembers the Administrator account password. So everytime she tries to install and update she in not able to do so.
She just wants to remove the user accounts and turn it into a personal laptop instead of one that was used for business.
Please note: I am not trying to hack into someone's computer.
I have researched some ways:
I know you can use the original installation disc to reset it, however, I don't have that.
I read something about typing in mmc and going that route but I get an error message
I saw there are some programs that you can use to do it, but most cost money and others are just demos
What is the best and (free) way to go about doing this? |

2) Burn it to CD
3) Boot to it
4) Tell it to blank the Administrator password |
