Re: New HD Channels - Pixalation / Unavailable in New York

Just an update for you guys. I spoke to Verizon today, there is an open ticket for this issue which has been escalated to the network technicians. They claim it should be solved by Friday. We'll see.

That's probably the ticket from when I called on Friday. I spoke to the technicians twice since then and they told me their working on it. They didn't give me a date however. At least Friday gives us some kind of time table. But like you said, we'll see.

On a different note, Sather made a great deal today to get rid of Gomez and save cap space. Rumors are he's working on getting both Heatley and Lecaviliar.

Let's keep up on Verizon about those channels, the more of us who call the better, I think we are part of the same VHO.

On a side note, Gomez was a disappointment, sadly. It was a good unload to free up some money, hopefully he has a bigger picture in mind.

You're not going to believe what they tried telling me. They left me a voice mail while I was out and said I need to upgrade to extreme HD since I'm on the discontinued premier HD. The guy who left the message obviously didn't know what he was talking about. So I called back ready to start yelling at them. I mean why would I get pixelation if it's a channel I'm not supposed to get? The guy agreed. This guy knew what he was talking about. He said to try this: Go to a channel your having a problem with. Hit the power button on the box then hit select twice. Toggle down to Inband Status and hit select.Look at the snr ratio. Mine was 32.1 db and said 'Fair'. If I do that on any other channel it's 35.4 db and says 'Good'. The tech said that's the problem. I asked him if it could be the ONT and he said probably not. It's probably a wiring issue. I have an appointment for Friday.
I would suggest calling and tell them what your SNR ratio is so they will setup an appointment.

First of all, I have extreme HD and have the same problem, so that's not true.

I am getting MTV HD and CMT HD, but not the others. When I tune to them, either I get the channel unavailable message or nothing happens.

I don't think it is a wiring issue also. The problem is happening on both of my boxes and one of my boxes is a home run back to the ont.

I've also never had any other problems when they added past HD channels, such as the .tv channels.

I am thinking about opening a ticket today in the direct forum.

Let me know what happens with your visit.

I posted on the direct forum 2 days ago and now I have all the channels crystal clear. I don't know if the tech in the direct forum was directly involved with fixing it, but I mentioned both of your forum names and frankpf3's post in the direct forum, so hopefully it will get fixed for you guys soon too.

Baff - I mentioned your name to vz_joseph in my post. Hopefully he can help without sending a tech out.

I am in Fanwood which is not far from Stirling and having the same issues. I figured I would check here first before giving Verizon the call, but it looks like I have no choice.

VZ_Gustavo was the original tech that responded to me, but Joseph responded too after I mentioned your name.

All Gustavo really said to me was "I will contact our video network team to ensure that the service is being broadcast out of the Central Office which is broadcasting to your area." I don't know if he did more than that or even if he had anything to do with the solution.

So the channels just started coming in? I checked the SNR value on Nick HD last night and it was coming in as poor in the STB's service menu.

The technician just left. Wow, that was a total waste of time. All he did was call up Verizon and they told him the same BS they've been telling me. He said I have to upgrade to Extreme HD. I asked him why I would get pixelation on a channel I'm not supposed to get and he said 'The channel is being scrambled'!
If I wasn't so frustrated, that would be really funny. The SNR ratio is actually slightly better than it was yesterday. It's actually listed as good and I could almost see the picture. Maybe it will keep getting better.
Anyway, I just posted on the direct forum. We'll see what happens. Baff, you've given me hope.

Again, that's complete BullSh*t. I have the extreme HD package and have the same exact problem. There is a problem with the QAM somewhere.

It's like pulling teeth with them.............

Let me know how your ticket turns out. I am still waiting for a repsonse on mine.

Frank-
If your SNR is showing as Poor on Nick HD - it's definitely a problem at your house or in the wiring.

That's exactly what I thought, and I still think it is.
But when the guy came to look at it, he swore it wasn't a problem in the house.
My 2 year contract is up in October. If it's not fixed by then, I'll threaten to switch to cable if I don't get those 4 channels. Then watch how fast they fix it. And I'll have the extreme HD at that point so they won't be able to use that as an excuse.

It is not a wiring issue. I have my hd box hooked up as a home run back to the ONT, no splitters or barrel connectors involved, and it is still a problem.

I called Verizon and had my ticket escalated to a network technician. It is suppsoed to be addressed in the next 24 hours but with the holiday and all..........

I don't know what they did to fix it for me, but nobody came to my house.

Yeah I called and have been receiving the same BS about Extreme, then told them I have Extreme and I got the (oh! uh! hmm!). So obviously this is no issue any lacky can answer on the phone and I had my ticket sent up the chain. Here's to hoping.

Then definitely let us know what the culprit ends up being.

It's obviously not at the VHO level, and they can Slingbox into your VSO to check for errors there. If you've already worked with VZ_Joseph in the Direct forum - they've obviously done that already as well.

I'm still putting all my money on a wiring issue at your home. Prove me wrong Frank!

(Just like we'll prove wrong your pickup of Gaborik! LOL)
