The merger is effective on July 1st. From their website and what employees have told me ...........
"Upon the closing of the acquisition of EMBARQ by CenturyTel, CenturyTel will be changing its name to CenturyLink.
CenturyLink will continue to provide communications and entertainment services to customers in its markets across 33 states under the CenturyTel and EMBARQ brands for the next several months. The company expects to launch the CenturyLink brand across most of its markets by year end 2009."
So Embarq is here until sometime towards the end of the year. Employees have told me the phones will still be answered Embarq, the trucks will still say Embarq and your bill will still say Embarq.
As I'm seeing it, it will be business as usual with small changes such as allowing naked DSL from the get-go instead of having to jump thru loops to get it. As time goes on and more systems between the two companies integrate so that everyone is on the same page then you'll see more changes happening. |
