| [motherboard] Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Install CD
Recently acquired a A7N8X-E Deluxe, but the guy I bought it from didn't have/couldn't find the install CD.
I've already hit up the Asus site and grabbed the updated BIOS firmware and drivers.
Is there anything on the install CD that's required or 'nice to have' that isn't on Asus' site? »support.asus.com/download/downlo···ge=en-us
Overall, I like this board although the technology is kinda old. It runs the Windows 7 RC version well and haven't had any problems so far.

| I generally don't use the CDs that come with boards, as by the time I get the board the CD is usually two or three versions old.
If you have the drivers for everything on the MB, unless its supposed to come with some special utility to do some special thing, there's probably nothing you need from it. |

You can just get them all and you will be fine |

Yeah, it's the 'special utility' thingie I was wondering about.
As for install CDs being out of date, I'd have to agree with you there and my first action once the m/b gets into my hands is to hit up the manufacturers website. |

| I suppose i'll expand more on what I meant. Unless there's some special utility advertised with the thing, like with eVGA's i7 motherboard, which comes with windows-based overclocking tools, there probably isn't anything.
Even then it should be downloadable from the manufacturer website. |

| reply to ZzyzxFromOR Usually true however, its been my experience that ASUS pulls utilities from the product download page. For example, the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe had its OC utility AKA AI Booster pulled from the motherboard download page.
The ASUS A7N8X Deluxe and (I think) A7N8X-E came with a monitoring utility for CPU / Motherboard Temp as well as memory usage and so on. I'm fairly sure that ASUS removed that utility on the motherboards page.
I think the same is probably true for my latest board which is the ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA1366. Some of the utilities are no longer available for download on the V1 page however, they are still on the V2 download page. |

| reply to ZzyzxFromOR I just tanked mine out on Saturday, by switching the USB jumpers to +5vSB... but other than that, the only application you'd need from the disc or the site, is the Asus PC Probe - tells you voltage/temp/fan speed, and sets off an alarm if they go too high(cpu temp) or low(fan speed). The latest is version 22502 or something like that... it's on the site. You don't need the apps to overclock, the mobo can do all that, if your CPU is unlocked... if not, the apps won't work anyway. -- do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are spiteful, and will piss all over your keyboard. |

As for the USB jumper, this the one for waking up the system via some USB device? (USBPW12, USBPW34 or USBPW56) It's mentioned in the user manual on page 2-16. The book says your power supply has to deliver 500mA for each port in use, or something like that.
And I found the copy of PC Probe on the Taiwan FTP site, thanks. |

Yep, that's the jumper I changed... stupid, huh? I really thought the power supply that came with my Antec case would handle it... *sighs* Really didn't think it'd screw up the mobo. Owell. Now I have to upgrade... *grinz* Goin with a Phenom quad, 4G ddr2, on a new asus board. I can't wait till it gets here... this franken-b0x I'm using is frustrating... lol |

| reply to ZzyzxFromOR The last AMD build was using the A7N8X-E Deluxe, it's now been given a few different homes and don't know at this point who has it; but I do believe the original disk is still around, I'll take a look and if I find it, I'll mail you the CD. But don't jump up and down just yet, that corner of my PC world is a mess and today was the planned clean up the CD/DVD's in the back of a huge closet. So, by nights end I'll give you an answer. |

Thank you Kiwi but bgraham passed along a .iso to me and I burned it to a CD-R. No sense in paying the post office for something I already have on hand.
Besides, you need to clean up that mess! (Insert the voice of Mom here)

| Ran across this topic when searching for help with this mobo (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe). I somehow screwed up my audio drivers and now get no sound at all. Clicking on the Nvidia system tray utility gives me a "failed to initialize the audio driver" message. So I need to know how to reinstall the audio driver from scratch. I tried running an "all-in-one" install of the mobo drivers but it hasn't corrected the problem. I tried removing audio devices from the device manager and rebooted hoping it would let me put the drivers back in but no luck. Any ideas for how to resintall the audio drivers? |

| reply to ZzyzxFromOR There's nothing on there you need, and even optional utilities will have newer versions on the website.
FYI, up to date Realtek drivers for the sound and network adapters can be found here: http://www.realtek.cz/ |
