| Windows 7 upgrade question
I have Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 32bit . I plan on getting a 64 bit OS as I currently have 4gb of memory and want to get more (6gb or higher) when I upgrade to a faster system, say like the core i7.
I would like to buy windows 7 pro as it has many of the features that I need to connect to my office as I work at home. If I were to order THIS version, would I be able to do the upgrade on a CLEAN install from 32bit vista to 64 bit Windows 7? Also, I would install that upgrade when I get my new machine built sometime in late OCT, so even tho my OEM is currently tied to my current machine that I have now, could I use this Windows Pro 7 to install on a new machine? Sorry for the long winded question. |

| When you upgrade from 32 bit vista to 64 bit windows 7, you have to do a clean install. An upgrade path is not available.
When you buy windows 7 pro, it only comes with a license for one computer, so if you have two computers, you need to buy a license for both. Dunno if that answers your question, i was a bit confused? |

| What I should clarify is that the link for the win7 pro is for the upgrade software only. When I get the new system, and install the upgrade pro, it will ask for the previous OS system disk to verify that I have something to upgrade from. My question is this, I have Vista home premium OEM. So, will there be a CD key conflict?
I guess I should think about getting a retail edition of win7 pro and save myself the headaches, but that is a really good price for the upgrade version of win7 pro........ |

When you install Win 7, somewhere in the process you will be prompted for a Windows key. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

@comcast.net | Irish, that upgrade CD, is it classified as OEM? Also, since I now have 32 bit edition Vista, I can use that upgrade to go to 64 bit windows i7? |
