| reply to andyross Re: Frequent Disconnects 6/28 Illinois?
Yep, 6120. It is bonding four channels for the downstream.
That's too bad they are cracking down on powerboost. I know it was just a bad gimmick, but the quick short download burst was nice and it seems I have been spoiled by it. Still 16mbps is nice and I would be plenty happy with 12mbps. I, like many others would like to see at least 5mbps up sustained.
I cleared my modem again and now there is nothing in the log. Nothing at all . I don't know what Comcast has done, but I don't like it at all. |

1 edit | reply to bshelly I think in another post you said you had a 6120? Is it bonding multiple channels? I remember seeing posts where it would sometimes not bond after a signal loss.
That said, they are cracking down on the powerboost. I just have a plain 5120, and for awhile when D3 was being set up, I would get crazy speeds of 30/8 or so. Downstream is now limited to 15-16 (I have the standard 12/2 tier). I just did a quick test, and got 7M upload, and that's on a 2.56MSym/sec data rate. |

| reply to donnie6332 We had an outage for about 5 hours on Wednesday and now my Powerboost is lame. I cap out at 21mbps and upload caps at 4mbps. Previously, Powerboost would give me 50/10 temporarily
I subscribe to the 16/2 tier and was used to the way Powerboost was working. I hate when they give us something and then take it away. It sucks. Comcast, you suck |

3 edits | reply to attbisbad On my Comcast Workplace connection (first hop is in Elmhurst, IL), I've been seeing severe packet loss since 7am this morning. Here's a smokeping that I started a little while ago. »/r3/smokeping.···ed209e73
First hop is of this form: te-X-Y-urZZ.elmhurst.il.chicago.comcast.net.
In my case, ping responses from the router and static IP hosts are very lossy and average latency.
The cable modem seems to be reporting normal line stats. Either the cable modem is failing or a NIC is failing or the problem is in the core network between my cablemodem and the elmhurst.il router.
Why the hell don't these SMC modems have a customer accessible remote reboot function?!
Update: The high packet loss issue is gone since 2:30am this morning. |

| reply to attbisbad Illinois is a pretty big place... Any particular town? Area? Never assume your issues are an entire states issues. The likelihood of an area as large as you would like to be having your issue is pretty slim. -- CableTechs.org/"Horrible People with Integrity" |
