Re: Frequent Disconnects 6/28 Illinois? On my Comcast Workplace connection (first hop is in Elmhurst, IL), I've been seeing severe packet loss since 7am this morning.
Here's a smokeping that I started a little while ago.

First hop is of this form:
te-X-Y-urZZ.elmhurst.il.chicago.comcast.net.
In my case, ping responses from the router and static IP hosts are very lossy and average latency.
The cable modem seems to be reporting normal line stats.
Either the cable modem is failing or a NIC is failing or the problem is in the core network between my cablemodem and the elmhurst.il router.
Why the hell don't these SMC modems have a customer accessible remote reboot function?!
Update: The high packet loss issue is gone since 2:30am this morning. |
