ASA VPN Configuration

Hi,
I have a ASA 5510 and 5540. I have setup the VPN on it to connect using Cisco VPN Client. However the requirement is now to setup windows VPN, so that no VPN client software is required by the end user. Can i have both (Cisco VPN Client access and Windows VPN access) on the ASA at the same time. If yes, can i have a sample config of how to setup a Windows VPN. I have never done that before.

A sample of a running config will surely help.

Moreover, what is the advantage or disadvantage between a Cisco Client and windows client.

Thanks
aryoba

Re: ASA VPN Configuration

Windows VPN technology uses L2TP or PPTP. The Cisco VPN client uses IPSec technology which is in general more secure technology than L2TP or PPTP.

Check out the following FAQ for sample configurations.

Cisco VPN technology is different than Windows, you can't setup a Csico security appliance to accept connections from Windows VPN users unless the users are using the Cisco VPN Client on their machine, or you have a Windows servers behind the ASA running RRAS which you then port forward PPTP traffic to.
