Re: [Other] Will 50ohm terms on coax help internet speed?

just consolidate the splitter(s) down. if you have eight lines and an 8way splitter but only use two outlets, than just get a 2way and run those two.

Thanks shdesigns & Brano,

Actually the network is 10baseT. I didn't realize that RG-59/RG-6 was 75 ohm. I'll disconnect the unused RG-59/RG-6 runs from the splitter. should I terminate all the connectors on the splitter once the cables are removed?

Thanks
Jim

Etherhet is 50 ohm over RG-58, TV is 75 ohm RG-59/RG-6.
Do you have separate ethernet RG-58 run, or they are usig TV runs for ethernet too?
Do you have BNC NIC card in your PC? Or how is the PC connected?

Yes, all unused connections on ethernet should be terminated.

Unterminated coax will cause reflections. It is seasiest to just disconnect those runs from the splitters if they are not in use.

The termination should be 75 ohm.

@cox.net

  I'm in a newer home and have Cox as my internet and TV service provider. Every room has a coax connector. However not every room has a TV hooked up to it.

If I go out and buy 50 ohm terminators and put them on all the unused connectors in my home will my internet speed improve?

Please don't speculate. Does anyone have real world experience with this?

TIA
