for the past 2 days i've been having connection problem with my dsl elite. prior to this i've had 4yrs or however long it's been (can't remember) of solid service. aside from having to cycle my router, i've not had my dsl go down. last night things changed and the dsl went out and stayed that way until late this morning. i called tech support and was told there was some problem in fremont and that i should call back in 4 hours to check.

with all of this, i'm surprised no one on this forum has said anything related to my issue. this thread was the closest one i could find by area/date. tonight the issue seems to be still around except it's on and off. dsl will disconnect and then come back few minutes later.

anyone else in Newark/Fremont area having connection issues?

Great! So now we know the whole state of California is screwed.
But at least we've got them all consolidated into one thread. Easier to ignore that way, doncha think?

Great! So now we know the whole state of California is screwed.

Start local, and report your modem lights, and (if possible) line statistics. Try and isolate the problem; determine if it is your line, or farther in to the system. If you can eliminate your modem, your line, your DSLAM, and your aggregation router, then we can talk about "the exact same problem" in Glendale, California, as in Fremont, California.

Everybody in this thread, please look at this:

»Pacbell FAQ » What information do you need in order to help me with my DSL problem?

You need to post something more substantial than "I am having the exact same problem as you guys".

There are three POP centers in the S.F. Bay Area, and each has several aggregation routers. Are all of you operating through the same POP center, and, if so, on the same aggregation router?

San Francisco here, having similar problems. I actually have 2 different DSL connections with ATT, and both of them are having this problem. The flash speed test reports ~1.2mbps down and 600kbps up, when normally it should be 6mbps down.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, and it went away on its own by the next day, but now it's back.

Yes, I'm in Los Altos, and my connectivity last night (Sunday evening) was horrible. Large packet loss, DNS was up and down, etc. Things got better by about 1:30 AM early Monday morning, so I think AT&T eventually resolved whatever was causing the issues.

and problem is identified at 11:45PM. Ping test shows 50% packet drops. Anyone else having problem?
