Interesting. Other folks have been flat out refused.

It's quite possible years ago, it wasn't uncommon that if you pushed enough they would activate almost any modem especially if it was from Videotron since they have most of the same infrastructure and modems but now I think it's quite rare I haven't seen anyone recently have any success.

make sure that if you choose to purchase your modem instead of trade the rental that you save all paperwork and receipts. We bought the Motorola SB5100 from CompuSmart and returned our old CyberSurfer thinking that they would remove the $3.00 modem rental fee. They didn't do that and cannot even confirm we returned our old modem. They cannot even determine if the modem we bought is not actually their modem so they will not remove the rental fee from our statement. The rep told us to go back to the store we purchased the modem from and, of course, CompuSmart no longer exists.

There's a thread by a user (a self-proclaimed "Rogers Rep") over at DigitalHome.ca :

ROGERS - New Internet Tiers, implementation of DOCSIS3
Well if this info is true then Extreme Plus beats the theoretical maximum of DSL by 1 Mps. So on paper. Rogers beats Bell.
Bell can no longer claim to have faster downloads than Rogers. Copper will no longer cut it. We're getting closer to fiber to the home, I think.
Actually you can bond multiple lines with DSL to act as a single connection, so it's not QUITE at the end of its life yet. However, if everyone did that, they'd have to massively expand the CO's to get enough wire running to everyone.
