So the moral of that story is that if you have a 2210 modem in the recalled batch, you should get it replaced before your year is up whether it is giving problems or not. It is a known problem that these modems in the bad serial number range have a minimal MTBF (mean time between failures).
If you have conscience qualms about asking for a replacement of a perfectly functioning modem, simply place the modem over a heat source such as a router or in a poorly ventilated position to accelerate its demise or to initiate its malfunctioning operation. |

I would call anyway, tech support has been known to warranty replace a "out of warranty modem"
It may help to disconnect the modem before calling, and follow the script to the letter

If your Motorola modem is less than a year old, you should be able to get a replacement for it. Your serial number of 34474088 is probably within the recalled range of "35xxxxxx (maybe slightly lower) up to 38xxxxxx and possibly up to 43xxxxxx". |
