1 edit | reply to olebiker Re: 150GB @ 20/40/60mbps coming to Montreal
suspect frigging suspect.
Im beginning to think that truely we ARE the 5% of users who know what the hell were doing, and in such no wonder why we're being throttled.. Since were such a small percentage of the subscribers, who cares about us? Who cares that a company is advertising 60/10 50/10 20/2... Only people that check e-mail and play web-based RPG's are going to sign up - for $150 + month - not us advanced users.
Who in the right mind would sign up for even a 20/1 tier with even a 150 gig cap?! What the HELL is the point in that with a cap like that.. Not to mention the overage charges seriously im going insane thinking about it. |

| reply to Guspaz said by Guspaz :You say that, but Bell proper charges $5 for 40GB rather than $20. So what?
Still serves as one more proof that Bell's $1.25/GB UBB-GAS and Videotron's $8/GB on TPIA are disproportionate. |

| reply to Guspaz said by Guspaz :That's wonderful, but those caps are still a deal killer. Their offer to sell you more bandwidth in 40GB chunks for $20 a pop doesn't help. At least it can still be used as yet more proof that the $8/GB in Videotron's TPIA and $1.25/GB from Bell's UBB GAS R&V are completely unreasonable from a retail perspective, even worse so for wholesale. |

| reply to cpsycho Again, VDN is not Bell. It's not run as a Bell division, most of the people that were present before the buyout are still working for the company.
VDN = Fiber network, last-mile in coax for TV/Internet. Some of the newer MDUs are last-mile VDSL.
Bell and VDN customers are completely separated, VDN has their own support, billing, marketing stuff.
The new 20/40/60Mbps profiles are on VDSL. |

2 edits | reply to R0CKY Bell is testing 20/40/60 speeds and trying to keep it under crtc's noses?
Wow, bell is got to be the most shady company out there. Atleast they beat rogers 50/2 for $150.
But only 120gb plans.... wow they still dont get it, especialy with the 2gb up speeds.
Seriously who in their right minds would need 50-60 down when you could only get 2 up, when most websites except the large ones. usually only allow 500kb downloads. I think Nvidia goes upto 1mb down and M$ as well, not many others out there that get that high.
Me I would want 25/25 and a 1000gb cap then I would be willing to pay over $150. |

| reply to dbsanfte said by dbsanfte :A guy in my building at 7400 Sherbrooke W was doing signups for VDN today (fiber-based cable and internet). Last I heard they were still offering a pitiful 10meg @ 100GB. So I quizzed the rep on that. Long story short, VDN is launching 20/40/60Mbps tiers next month in their buildings in Montreal, at a 150GB cap. No prices yet. It's better than Videotron, but still crap if you can get a decent sync with Colba. Though maybe I'll try it for a month anyways and give a review. .... and the rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper!
