I am talking about downtown toronto. I am currently living Downtown and need the connection there. I was looking for a fiber optic connection in Niagara Falls where I have a house, but it just seems easier to find a provider in Toronto.

All I have found so far though is a few 25-50mbit providers in Montreal.

If you think you can spend under 300$/month to get what you want, you're dreaming. Most 25-50mbit providers in Montreal are BS: either colba resellers (look up its reviews), or wireless (either very restrained locations, or 300$+/month).

I am definitely looking into cogeco as a provider.

A bit of a clear up in information, I am not looking to spend $300 and get a bad provider, I am looking for a quality fiber isp (up to $3000/month), I have been looking at a few and they discourage residential contact so I have not contacted them since the fiber optic lines I need would be one T3 or 10M line for my residence and another line for my business which is housed in a smaller building I own near U of T downtown, so right in the core of downtown really.

Most major bandwidth providers will probably be willing to run fibre to you at your cost.

I think that many providers don't like the idea of dealing with residential customers due to contracts. Fibre providers want to know that a binding contract (possibly up to 3 years) is in place with a registered company.

Granted, companies can disappear overnight, but less likely than an individual.

I'll note that Erik did say that they (Caneris) do fibre in downtown Toronto, and they've got a pretty good reputation.

$850/mth for 10mbit is sort of what he implied, but unless they're paying Bell for a LAN extension, the majority of that cost is probably covering the fibre strand itself. So the 100mbit cost would likely not be linearly 10x the cost.

Anyhow, I might be off base on that; the best thing to do is contact him.

Thanks for the help guys, I made a few calls, so far its not far off from my budget to get home and business lines setup which is perfect.

Btw thanks JillyHead, didnt find any of those 3 in my research, but pretty much because Im looking at a 100mbit home line I cant use any of those since they wont run the line even on my cost

call into Caneris and get a quote... they offer great services and are fairly quick on getting you the quote . Remeber anything fiber takes time to quote as they need to get it from who ever owns the fiber be4 it reaches you...
