AT&T doesn't have DSL in almost any real small towns. A population of 1000 ain't really enough to make it economically feasible to bring DSL there. Sure, if all 1000 connected to it, yeah it'd be worth it but that doesn't happen. Multiple DSLAMs would have to be installed to service everyone and most likely new fiber to those DSLAMs.
Put simply, by the time it would take AT&T to make a profit from bringing DSL there, they will have replaced it with a newer technology, probably twice over. It'd be nice to have DSL everywhere, but AT&T ain't gonna lose money to do that. |
