1 edit | SPA2102 - forward Line 1 to Line 2OK I'm using FreePhoneLine.ca. I've searched google and found information saying that it should be possible to forward from Line 1 to Line 2 by setting the following settings:
Line 1:
- Make Call Without Reg: Yes
- Enable IP Dialing: Yes
- Cfwd All Serv: Yes
Line 2:
- Ans Call Without Reg: Yes
User 1:
Cfwd All Dest: line2_user_id@ip_address:port_number
I've tried using the internal AND external IP address, without success. I only have 1 phone connected to the ATA, which is on Line 2. If I call the number set up on Line 1, I get a busy signal.
What's wrong??
One thing I thought may be causing a problem is my Dial Plan on Line 1:
Would I need to add a rule to dial to direct IP numbers?? I really don't know as I'm fairly new to this voip/ata stuff. | |

2 edits | Re: SPA2102 - forward Line 1 to Line 2 To be able to forward calls from your SPA2102 (or any other SPAxxxx based adapter, including the venerable PAP2v1), whether it be to another line on the same adapter, or another number/URI, your provider has to support adapter requested call forwarding. The overwhelming number of providers out there deliberately disallow/block it, supposedly for security reasons. I don't know specifically about FreePhoneLine.ca, but given the standard practice among providers, I'd doubt that they allow it. | |

| your problem will be nat related. The ip address you have in the CFWD setting will be used in the SIP reinvite when doing the forward. Unless your ips are public the remote server wont be able to do the forward.
If you are in a nat environment you could setup a portforward on the router for the line 2 and then use the public ip for your network in the CFWD setting. | |

@DogFace05: I figured as much. And I'm sure it's nothing to do with security. FreePhoneLine.ca has a forwarding feature directly in their website control panel, but you cannot forward it to another FreePhoneLine phone number. This is obviously to avoid people getting a bunch of free phone numbers and forwarding them all to another freephoneline number. I'll give them a call during the week to double check. I really don't see why it's disallowed. They should allow it. | |

| Re: SPA2102 - forward Line 1 to Line 2 just to be sure though, you now need two ports forwarded to your router, one for each line eg.5060 and 5061 otherwise the call will keep ending up on the same line.
DogFace05 is correct in that some providers dont allow call forwarding but there is also a lot of them that do. I got this working with callcentric,inphonex and will try cwus soon. And the forwarding that you need is uri forwarding as the second line doesnt even need to be registered with your provider. | |

| Re: SPA2102 - forward Line 1 to Line 2 I spoke to a technical support agent at FreePhoneLine (my voip provider) and he said it's not possible to forward a freephoneline number to another freephoneline number.... through their control panel. But he said it SHOULD be possible to forward from Line 1 to Line 2 internally through the ATA, but he doesn't know how. He even went as far as asking for screenshots of my ATA's settings and testing it out himself and asking around the office, but he couldn't figure it out, not because it's not possible, but because they don't know a lot about ATAs. Their service isn't based around ATA devices. Most of their customers use the VOIP line through their computers.
I'm going to call Linksys tech support now to see if they can give me any answers. They should be able to! | |
