Is your router running Tomato firmware?
Best to ping your WAN gateway when you have problems.
I suspect you are suffering from "connection surges" which use up all your router's memory. In this context, "connection" means NAT-SPI-connection-tracking.

Learn to find your router's log, and your modem's log.
(Holler if you need help.)

If you are running Linksys firmware, I strongly suggest installing Tomato 1.25, since it turns your Linksys router from a toy appliance into a professional router.
