[BC] Usenet down on Shaw again?

Anyone else not able to connect to the newsgroup server? I
have been using shawnews.vc.shawcable.net and
newsfarm.iad.highwinds-media.com before with no problems.
I have not been able to connect for the past 4 weeks. Has
shaw finally discontinued usenet service?

Rather than using the absolute domain names you listed above, why not try using the SHAW recommended proxy server "news.shawcable.net"? It's working for me.

Re: [BC] Usenet down on Shaw again?

I've tried 'shawnews' and 'news.shawcable.net' and they don't work. The weird thing
is it stopped working when there was a network outage, but after I got back online
with no help from customer support, I could no longer access Usenet. I can ping the
news server address that resolve to the newsfarm at:
69.16.185.250 and 69.26.185.147

Here are the nslookups:

C:\Documents and Settings\MYKEY>nslookup shawnews
Server: pd2nsc3.st.vc.shawcable.net
Address: 64.59.144.92

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: newsfarm.iad.highwinds-media.com
Addresses: 69.16.185.247, 69.16.185.250
Aliases: shawnews.vc.shawcable.net, news.shawcable.net

C:\Documents and Settings\MYKEY>nslookup news.shawcable.net
Server: pd2nsc3.st.vc.shawcable.net
Address: 64.59.144.92

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: newsfarm.iad.highwinds-media.com
Addresses: 69.16.185.250, 69.16.185.247
Aliases: news.shawcable.net

When I telnet to the addresses above, I get no response from the server at all.
I even disconnected my router and connected directly through the modem
even though I've made no changes to me router and no change in results.
Weird. Any suggestions?

All 5 are working for me right now.
