Well here in Key West we are are normal around 90 peak, most days a decent breeze.... yeah the rest of the SE even central FL. Hot as heck... frequent triple digits.
And most who have been here visiting in dead of summer say how oppressive it is.... but 95 is the record still.... just breaking 90 is normal hi summer.... been well over 100 in much the rest of FL.
Last heast wave a few years ago we were the coolest place on the east coast, though being the southernmost point. Still hot and hunid, but coolest (vs just as humind 100+ DC/ex swamp) but we accustomed to it and 10 deg cooler and breezy too. People dropping dead in DC and Chicago, Phili, and elsewhere that year.
The only time a heat or cold wave makes a difference is were people are not accusomed to it. And even here I am not an AC'd house that is NEVER cooler than 80F(Just enought to dry air and no shock in to out), except in winter it hits near 60 or below and pull out the space heater. And Yes tourist all of us in jackets and sweaqter, maybe even long pants are the locals, you are the nuts in T's and shorts and swiming, not realizing its WINTER ..
KW record low and high are 42 and 95.... you are neither going to boil or freeze (also why we have a lot of homeless for a small place) to death. Even they don't.... biggest summer deaths here were elderly evacuated from care/hospital rurn out needlessly for a hurricane evacuation... but natural situation just virtually never happens even to the el;lderly that have long been here.
Winter typical high 70's day 70 night.... summer near 90 day and 80 night. Though not national record temps, on average the warmest place actually. Though in Dec-Feb we do have those occasional night dips into the 50's maybe 40's and just over 60 day highs. (Yeah that Canadian BS dips way down here now and then and when Atlanta or Jacksonville just shuts down because they don't barely know what a snowflake is or how to cope even if its only 1/2 an inch or less. Yet again warmest average often hi of sumer the coolest place on the east coast. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)
