| [Rant] What is going on with the airlines?
I am trying to find a flight MIA to AMS and there are NO direct flights. First on delta.com the top results were anywhere from 22 to 35 hours!
I don't want to sit in Madrid for 5 hours and have the Dutch police following me thinking I am a hitman again. -- PRescott7-2097 |

Your best bet is MIA -> LAX, then LAX -> AMS. |

Try MIA>BOS>AMS, MIA>IAD>AMS or MIA>BWI>AMS. -- There is no giant fur-bearing trout. |

Leaves 7 July 1:45pm MIA arrives 8 July 8:10am AMS with just a 1 hr 46 min layover in Atlanta for a total 12 hr 25 min trip... Delta 74, MD-90, Delta 838, Airbus A330-300 -- Read your contract and TOS before signing anything. |

| reply to Rob said by Rob :Because MIA -> AMS is a waste of money for the airlines. Your best bet is MIA -> LAX, then LAX -> AMS. That sounds like a swell way to spend 9 hours of my time. Flights to Europe go over the Atlantic ocean. MIA -> LAX would be about 3 hours (+ airport time) and then the flight to AMS is longer. A direct flight from Miami to Amsterdam is about 8 hours, I've done it before.
We are talking about major airports here, isn't MIA the 3rd or 4th largest airport in the US? We aren't talking about a tiny 1 runway airport in some hick town in the middle of Kansas here. -- PRescott7-2097 |

| reply to joako KMIA-KLAX is closer to 5hrs in the air plus airport time. As noted KORD, KBOS, KATL all have direct flights to EHAM.
KMIA is a busy airport, but not close to 3rd or 4th busiest in the US. -- When I take action, I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt. It's going to be decisive. --George W. Bush |

| reply to joako Miami didn't even make the tope ten for the last three years (it was around 15 and 29th in the world for 2008 and 2007)
It's not even the busiest in Florida with Orlando taking those honors.
I've found that even larger airports might only have 1 or 2 direct flights to a larger european city and those book up fast especially in the summer. -- CCNA, Comtrain Certified Tower Climber |

1 edit | Maybe my issue is trying to find a flight too far in advance (approx this time next year?)
